But that's not what they are going to do. Them is my new cycling boots.

Got them on Thursday and used them several times. Coming home today, spray/drizzle, and rapidly dropping temperature - my feet were bone dry and warm.

I have no idea what anyone else thinks - and really don't care! - but at this moment am absolutely happy. Will have to see if they get too warm as we go through spring into summer, or on longer trips. And if they split, or wear badly. (They are a bit on the small side - even taking the removable insoles out, they are only just big enough.)

Do you have any problems with dogs wearing feet out when doing this. I often take black lab out running whilst I,m pedaling ....he loves it but after a couple of miles his feet are bleeding...tried the bootees , which work fine, but was spending more on his shoes than I do on my own footwear.

No, but he mostly runs on grass. My dog's run around 6k miles with me in the past 3.5 years. Over time his pads have become as hard as leather. Although, it's not been totally uneventful.

Are they, as they appear, ordinary wellies? I think my ordinary rubber wellies would be uncomfortable up my shins. It was the softer neoprene that decided me on buying these ones.

I'll be very happy if I ever get to the point of claiming 6K miles. (And cats don't seem so keen on running.)

Yes they're just regular wellies.

The best ones are known as Dairy Boots, often sold by motorcycle dealers as part of their clothing range.

Dairy farmers and some other food processing workers spend so much time in rubber boots that comfort and sealing are vital. Two links below:

They are good for the job and I recommend this style for biking around in the wet, as well as doing jobs in the rain.

Before I bought mine, I cast around (well, they are fishing boots) for reviews. There were quite a few that compared them favourably against ones that cost the best part of a hundred, or more. (Not better than, but possibly as good, or not far short.)

About two weeks after my post, I have worn them for every cycle ride. Wet, dry, cold, even a few flakes of snow. Delighted with them. Just wish the left one were half a size larger - to make it easier to get on and off. (As with many of us, my left foot is around half a size larger than my right. It isn't a fault with the boots.)

Next time they are available, I shall probably buy a second pair.

I bought a set of them too, for doing the horses. I've no complaints either. Haven't used them on the bike yet, but may well do soon if I use the bike to go see the horses! Nice and snug around the calf too, to stop bits of hay falling in
