Well, it arrived yesterday. It's awesome. I mounted it on the handlebars with one of those "T" shaped extenders for bike lights and two velcro bike light clamps. One clamp mounts the front of the torch to the T, and the other clamps the back of the torch to the handlebars. A guy on ES has done a review of the Trustfire 3T6. Mine's the Skyray 3T6, which seems to be identical : Look at the photos of how much light it gives!

Pretty impressive. As per my other thread I have a Cree Q5 Zoom that takes 3 * AAAs and cost about a fiver from China. Its small and fits well on my Brompton. Initially I thought I would just use it on low power as even that is about 5 times better than my expensive Cateye

However I have found once you get some light you want more :p

Anyway all is fine until you then come to run time. On 3 * AAAs on full beam its about an hour before the light dims.

I have reached a compromise where I am using a 18650 3.7v (4.1v charged) Li-Ion cell which produces an even brighter light because of the higher voltage. I run it on lower beam mostly but go to full on the darker part of my commute. I am hoping this will involve just one charge a week plus will keep a spare cell with me.

The great thing is these torches cost about 1/5th of the Cateye ones I purchased before and shine many many times more brightly.

There's also some great value dual 1/2 watt rear lights out now. I tend to like the rear one flashing (in fact I have two one flashing one static) and the front static (and pointing down) to light up the road in front of me.

Regards

Jerry

It does amaze me how cheaply the China lights are and how much better quality they tend to be rather than the inshop soloutions we have over in the UK that every bike shop is peddling.

It is an impressive light. I am more than happy with mine though now I have some decent cells!

Merry Xmas!

I recently acquired an "SSC-P7" front light on Ebay for £35. It included the light unit, an 8.4 volt 4 cell Li-Polymer battery pack, a velcro hangar to fix it to the bike, a charger with fully charged indicator, and a headset strap in case I wanted to wear the light instead of mounting on the handlebars with a rubber ring.

I am extremely impressed with this item, on full power its like a small car headlight, on flash I think it's potentially dangerous, it's so bright I reckon I could give anyone with a sensitivity to strobe lights an instant fit! On first trial, a car coming in the opposite direction stopped to see what was making such a bright burst of flashing, and was a little surprised to see it was a bicycle.

The light lasts over 3 hours on full blast (1200 Lumen thingies) and around 7 hours on low (300 Lumen jobbies). I note the same item was listed after my purchase for £91. I guess that's a full price with the £35 being a special offer, and at that price fantastic value.
