Xipi comuter Stealth 1,500 watt NEW FOR 2012 15AH Battery | eBay

What is peoples opinions on the new Xipi, looks a beauty, but the price is astronomical, think perhaps they need to start doing 12 months interest free payment scheme, as that is a lot of cash

Looking on the feedback against the sellers account I was shocked to see that there are a number of people still willing to risk all and buy these illegal bikes. Don't tell me they are all using these bikes on private land I have gone beyond believing that. The problem is that one day one of these bikes will hurt someone on a cycle track and the independence we all enjoy will be taken away. THE GUY WHO SELLS THESE BIKES IS A SELFISH IDIOT AND THE GUYS WHO BUY THEM ARE SELFISH IDIOTS.

Am I the only one to notice the irony of a advert for Xipi down the side of this forum ?

Does look like the usual these bikes are legal but you can quickly improve them (but make them illegal) if you want but dont blame us when you get knicked tactic.

Make no mistake if illegal e-bikes get to popular and are involved in incidents we will all pay the price with tougher legislation.

250 watt is the legal limit not 1500 watt

Does say restricted to 250 Watt unless change/modify controller which would appear to be legal under EU legislation (NEO's are 350 restricted to 250 and come with relevant certification as meeting requirements)

Although labelling it 250W does seem like trying to make sure customer can cheat.

When will manufacturers realise that a wicker basket, sufficient for the carriage of

1) A bottle of Piniot

2) A properly folded copy of the Grauniad &

3) A loaf of whole meal bread and a portion of local cheese

is essential equipment?

Trivia such as the latest model of carbide lamp and a suitable brass bulb-horn may be added later.

Really, it is a very simple matter ... Nurse!

;-)

I am thinking of getting a Chihuahua and may well call on your expertise regards wicker baskets.....

Frank ( THE SELFISH IDIOT )

I am a bit perplexed as to why you are allowed to advertise on this forum....

Firstly may I state that I have never seen a Xipi bike in the flesh much less ridden one. I have never met Frank at Xipi or spoken with him.

He is one of a great many sellers of ebikes and/or kits that are illegal on the road. Unlike many others he makes this abundantly clear. He also spends much time providing valuable advice to those who have no interest in purhcasing from him and often reccomends other suppliers

It is not illegal to sell them and he does nothing wrong. Its all about the buyers and find the comments from Kudos misguided and worrying. I had been seriously considering puchasing from them but woulkdnt dream of it after this

Lets make this very clear - it is not illegal to purchase a kitchen knife but very illegal to stab someone with it. If Tesco stop selling them they may not publicly call ASDA a bunch of selfish idiots without being dragged though the courts

It is likewise not illegal to purhcase a car but very illegal to drive it at 120mph down the M1 undertaking people and driving like a lunatic. Pleanty of people do and you may not brand Ford/Audi/BMW or car maker of you choice a selfish bunch of idiots

The responsibilty to use ANY device within the realms of the law lies with the buyer/user. Once again this is excellent example of kind of witchhuntery and abuse this forum occansionally revels in - it makes me deeply uncomfortable. From a faceless nobody internet troll it is expected but from a industry competitor it is quite probrably litigious

Illegal, and sadly also illiterate.

I believe him to be a Supplier of eBikes (legal or otherwise) rather than a Suppler off such beasts.

I know it's a nitpicking thing, but I can't help getting irritated by businesses that can't be bothered to get basic spelling and grammar correct.

Hugh, the pedalling (not peddling, that's what Frank does) pedant.

It is not illegal to sell them and he does nothing wrong. Its all about the buyers and find the comments from Kudos misguided and worrying.

Amen!

[sets off home on his 25mph 700 watt EBIKE]

Some people really need to dismount thier high horse with the utmost expediency!

I find it very hard to believe that all you law abiding do-gooders have never done anything illegal in your life. Biggest pile of s**t if you say you haven't.

Stop bloody moaning and let members get on with contributing to the forum.

Doesn't matter if the thing only goes 15mph or 50mph. They are all made up of the same basic components which can break down, and need invaluable advice to get back on the road again.

There's nothing in the forum rules to say that Frank can't promote his goods.

Yes, his grammar and spelling can be slightly poor at times, but is that a crime???

If only there was a law passed to ban incessant moaning. Then maybe this forum would be a better place

THE GUY WHO SELLS THESE BIKES IS A SELFISH IDIOT AND THE GUYS WHO BUY THEM ARE SELFISH IDIOTS.

....unfortunately those words will not stop the guy selling them.....confiscating and crushing all his stock will.

Which would be a little harsh don't you think as he's not doing anything wrong?

High horse < that way.

Blah blah blah blah blah...... BORING

There's a very strong whiff of self righteousness on this thread, some might even think it's more to do with putting down competition rather than real concern for the law. I know it's important not to have blatantly illegal bikes on the road but it has little to do with more restrictive legislation, there's no reason for that to happen but if attention is drawn to ebikes and checks start happening then people will find that most* ebikes on the road are slightly over the speed limits. That's what will really upset the mainstream manufacturers and importers.

* From a survey of random ebikes that I ride alongside on my commute.

I'm sure some of the posters on here would like us all to have a chap with a red flag walking in front of our bikes!

I decided to delete/edit this post...thread degenerating into same old discussion.

When the government decides to get all the idiots off the road who have no car insurance , tax or driving license , I may comply ....

Some people need to get a life. Sad old gits comes to mind.

Sorry - can't help. Our expertise was defeated by a rescue Greyhound, which for 12 years was too lazy to attempt a climb into the basket...
