Thanks for that.In Goa, Professor Purnanand Savoikar is working to reduce our dependence on sand. He's researching ways to make concrete by partially replacing sand with recycled waste plastic. Professor John Orr from the University of Bath says 10% of sand can be saved in this way..

Pity its only 10%, like the scrap tyre rubber used in road building, or car production even.
Maybe industry has or needs a tax incentive to use it, esp when the tech needs developing.
I seem to remember the use of scrap steel was blamed for cars going rusty!
