The best electric bike shop in the world is in Telford! Today, I was invited to the opening of that new electric bike shop that I mentioned a couple of weeks ago. There's nothing like it. Prepare to be amazed:

You come into reception, where there's classic motorbikes on display:

Then there's the comfy lounge where you can get a cup of coffee while you make up your mind which bike to buy:

Here's the first showroom, which is about 1/10th the size of the main one, which is still being prepared:

All the people invited came in fancy cars: Maseratis. E-type jags, Aston Martins, Ferraris. That's just the ones I can think of. You wouldn't believe such a collection of exotica. In fact, there were so many exotic cars there that people were getting distracted from the reason for being there, i.e. to see the ebikes:

Another Ferrari driver come to get a replica of that 45 mph bike we made:

Inside, a few Lambouginis to look at while you wait for your turn with the ebike staff:

Here's the bikes they all came to get for blatting round on their "off road" private land (That's what they said). Unfortunately, because of demand, you can only order one by personal visit. Then you join the waiting list, which is getting longer every day:

Quite a big crowd for an electric bike shop opening. Parking was a real problem. They were queued up all the way down the road trying to get in:

This shop will be massive when it's finished. You heard it here first.

No. I'm not commercially involved in any way.

Did you see smart ebiker there? I don't think he'd want to miss that show.

My local bike shop is so much better, it's full of... bikes. You might have to wait a couple of minutes while the owner cleans his hands before coming over to help because he is usually working his magic in the open plan workshop at the back of the showroom. No posers, no distractions just bikes.

So the last 5 -6 posts have been negative. I think it's a brilliant idea, in my experience ebikes are not sold to existing cyclists and so the idea of 'fusing' the ebike industry with another market that is passionate about its hobby can only be a good thing.

They're just jealous, Tom, though you can't blame them.

Regarding Cornishman's comments: These guys are all technical guys. Not a salesman in sight. They've all spent a long time doing practical things to 4-wheeled vehicles, like every type of modification - electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, bodywork, etc. No administrators or commercial guys. Never have I come across guys that picked up the workings of electric bikes so quickly. They've all done their own electric bike conversions, which is what gave them the idea to start a business. Their workshop is also open plan, though at about half an acre, it's probably a bit bigger than what you're used to.

Does size matter? I just don't see it as the Best Electric Bike Shop in the World. It may be an interesting bike shop near you but that's about it. I'm happy going to specialists and that means factory trained mechanics for my mid engined car and motorcycle and a cycle specialist for my bikes. I'm obviously one of those rare people, a cyclist who has bought an e-bike.
Believe me jealousy does not come into it although perhaps different tastes do.

Does this shop have a website? What bikes do they sell or are they all conversions only or bespoke jobs?

So they dedicated a corner of the motorsport shop for ebikes. Explains the crowd. Bike selection seems pretty uninteresting. But maybe they have their target audience figured out. Good luck to the shop!
That seems to me to be a very narrow-minded view. I told you that they only had the idea for an electric bike shop about three or four weeks ago, and they've done what you can see already.

It takes time to broker all the deals with the suppliers, most of whom are very narrow-minded too.

We went to the bike show to introduce SVM to all the brands exhibiting there. Nobody was interested to follow it up apart from Gocycle. Even in the short time they've been open (5 days), they already sold at least one Gocycle at over £3000.

I can only guess that all the distributors exhibiting at the show have run out of stock again so they're not interested to sign up new dealers.

KTM would be a perfect 'fit' for these guys.

This company have a Voodoo Electric bike for sale on Ebay, sent them a message asking for frame size & they haven't even got the decency to reply! Yes they have seen my message (Sent 8th Oct) because the ad has been updated since my message was sent (No, not with the frame size) And no i'm not going to ring them, i'd rather take my business else where. Rant over.
Seriously? for whatever reason they may not have got the message, why not just pick up the phone?

Lambo's, Ferrari's and E Types. They're going to have to get their bikes selection right. My next door neighbour is like their target buyer. Only the best for him. I think only the top bikes from Haibike, Ktm, Cube and Specialized will work for that business? Interesting idea. Good luck to all involved.

I hope that have factored in time for after sales service just in case anybody bothers to bring their faults in to be seen.
