Hi. I´m new to this site and would like this to be my first post on the forum .

Test rapport. BH Easy Motion Race electric bike against super lightweight carbon race bike.
With a scientific touch in the end.
Well. Today I went for a 25 km spin with my brother. Me on the above mentioned BH Race euro model with a top assisted speed at 30 km/h and he on a stealth racer bike.
Outfit. He. Expensive lycra clothes and even more expensive bike shoes. Me. Just plain old dirty working clothes and even older walking boots. His weight 80 kgs. Mine 70 kgs. His bike about 7 kgs. Mine around triple that weight at around 20 kgs.
We started out on a 2 km straight in light headwind. Here we were about equal. We then took a right turn and continued for 3 more kms in a 8 m/s headwind and lightly uphill. I took the lead and broke the wind for the racer. He struggled to keep up. His heart rate was 160. Mine was 130. After some kms we came to the top of a hill and went downhill for about a km. He now took the lead and it was impossible for me to keep up. He actually stopped pedaling and I pedaled hard as hell. Still the gap between us increased. I guess he was 200 meters ahead of me.
At the end of the hill, he waited for me. His heart rate was 130. Mine was 165.
We now continued for 4 kms straight with light headwind. Again, I broke the wind for him but he followed fine in my tail.
Next we were to take a left turn and were to ride uphill for 500 meters. We had to cross a road with a lot of traffic before riding the hill. He got away before me and I had 100 meters to catch up at the bottom of the hill. At the middle of the hill I caught him and behaved friendly so I didn’t leave him struggling for the rest of the hill. I dragged him to the top and we now took another left turn. Straight into a 4 km flat/lightly downhill with 8 m/s tailwind. Whoosh and away he was. I pedaled very hard but no chance I could catch him. He waited and we compared heart rate again. Mine 175. His 155.
We then chatted for the next 2 km going 30-40 kmh downhill and tailwind. I had to pedal harder than him but it was not that difficult to follow him.
We then took a left turn and had to continue 1,5 km lightly uphill and tailwind. He went away quite fast and I was in no doubt he was trying to leave me behind. I pedaled for my life and with me at 27 km/h the gap between us was about 20 meters and increased a little bit all of the time. In the distance I could see the hill getting steeper, and thought that I just had to keep the distance around these 20 meters, and hoped to catch him up when the hill got steeper. My thoughts paid off. I caught him at the top of the hill totally out of breath. My heart rate 193. His 175.
The second last leg of the route included quite a steep hill and a downhill. At the steepest, he rode at 12 km/h and I left him totally when I climbed the hill at 24 km/h. At the top, I slowed a bit down but continued 100 meters before he were at the top. A few seconds later, he passed me like a jetfighter and I felt like riding a tank.
We were now at the final 2 kms leg before the finish line. Starting with a 1,5 km flat and ending in a 500 meter middle climb. I asked him if we should take the last 2 kms as a man to man fight. He said no because he did not want to struggle in the 8 m/s headwind. I took the lead and broke the wind for him. We were going about 25 km/h. 500 meters before the hill he suddenly exploded in a gigantic surprise attack immediately making a gap at about 50 meters. I guess he was going around 30 km/h and there was no chance I could catch him. The gap slowly increased and when he was at the bottom of the hill, I guess the gap was about 100 meters. I gave it everything and half ways up the hill I passed him at twice the speed. I just had to ask him if he wanted a lift to the top. Yehaaa. Victory was mine.
And now for the scientific part. We compared our average heart rates. His 146. Mine. Well to my big surprise. 146. No kidding. It was exactly the same. I really didn´t expect that.
So now all lycra guys. Stop picking on all of us going electric. We are burning exactly the same amount of calories when riding togehter. We just have more fun than you ))))).
