Hello folks. You can't attach photos within pms. So I just want to make a thread here to share with PC2017. Ill delete afterwards. If this isn't OK please let me know. Other members might be able to help which id greatly appreciate.

Hello PC2017. Ok so the bearing is on the tread due to me not removing the nut. The bearing doesn't want to slide into the empty wheel slot. This is what meant. However it isn't relevant if I cant remove the bearing. To replace the motor.

At the moment the only method I can think of is to use a flat head screw driver underneath and as close to the thread as possible to avoid damaging the bearing. Equal pressure from both ends using two flat heads will hopefully help. And to twist them side to side.

This is how I opened up mine. At the two min mark in this video however I still had a nut on the thread which is why my bearing is on the thread rather than the empty hub shell

You may have to ask the forum Moderator to delete a thread. However this may help others.

Oooh yep - darn - Other may assist on this one I agree....

I see.... If you can get that bearing off without breaking it , I believe (and this is grey area for me as I have not yet needed to replace a bearing) you will need to press fit your bearing or another bearing in place, simply inserting it, and I am guessing here would not work.

If you can source another bearing of the same spec and press fit it in, there's loads of vids of people replacing bearing on motor bikes I assume the same techniques can be used here...

Then my motor would slide in.

I can edit the title to make it searchable for people in a similar situation.

I managed it with the screw driver. Just took my time and used equal pressure going around. It just damaged two washes (pics).

Now I have my last hurdle. A snap ring. I'll do some research and and take my time to see if I can use a make shift tool. Im really enjoying this. It's on the vidoe at the 3min mark.

Did the bearing survive? and where did the washers come from?

The motor I will send you has planetary gears on, my motor should fit straight in, All you need to do is re-fit the bearing back in the motor case in your wheel. The alternative is use my bearing that comes in the outer case if you could press it out and back in yours.

Yes it's fine as far as I know. Spins OK however im not sure if it's just as fast. The washes were in-between the snap ring and bearing.

Ive managed to take the snap ring off. Oh you're sending it with the planetary gears on? Thank you very much. Now I have the bearing off ill stop at that. I did try to take the planetary gears off but they are on tight. Ive no need to remove them now thought. Yeah I'll use your bearing if that's OK.

I had a bearing rusted on like that. I got a piece of 2" wide 1/4" steel plate and ground it to a wedge with my angle grinder, then I ground out a slot for the axle and bashed in in with a lump hammer. it only took a couple of blows before it started moving and a couple more until it was off.

Like this, which is a chuck removal tool:

There is a small metal washer just after the gears

That's an excellent idea. Hopefully it will help others in the future. I could have done with those, however I dont want to spend money on tools ill only use once, and then they will take space up. If you can diy these tools you're onto a winner.

Silver seems like the sensible colour to go for as black absorbs heat. I didnt have a choice. Screw hole to screw hole is also 12cm20210417_195341.jpg

Im confident now, they look identical. Are there any more photos or measurements you'd like me to take? Thank you for taking the time.
