Hi All,
I am looking to convert My trusty Trek T900 Tandem to give a little help on the larger hills and maybe strong head winds, I am fairly fit and like pedaling ( Wife maybe not so much ) so would not using the motor all the time. Our rides tend to be around 30 miles sometimes upto 50 miles and currently I limit the amount of climbing to 400m assent in a 30 mile ride.
I have looked at some off the purpose built e tandems but they tend to be the wrong size for the stoker as I need a small 14.5 inch frame on the rear so the best option my be a DIY conversion.
I had a chat with a local e bike shop today who sells bbs 01 kit and he did not it would work well as it would be best mounted at the front (captain )and my chain wheel that drives the rear in left mounted
.
So I have been looking at rear hub motor conversion and think the XD double speed could be a good option considering the extra weight of the tandem ??
Any ideas and suggestions would be greatly appreciated
Max
