Hi folks

I am having a problem with my Synergie Cruiser. As soon as I switch the key on it runs at full speed. I tried disconnecting the pedelec cable at the control box and it was the same. Put it back on then disconnected the throttle and hey presto it stopped. Faulty throttle I thought. Purchased a new one fitted it and it is still the same. As soon as I plug in the new throttle the motor runs at full speed. Any idea's what else could be at fault would be appreciated.

Old throttle was probably faulty. New throttle has wires in different positions. Check that the colours in the connectors match: Black to black, red to red, etc.

The new throttle was a little different. black and red wires same as old throttle but it has a blue wire instead of a white one. I joined red to red, black to black and blue to white. How can I check if this is correct?

You'd Need a multimeter to check that the signal coming back from the throttle wasn't jammed on +5v.
To be honest it sounds like you have the wiring correctly.

There's only really 3 wires that throttles have.

Live (Red usually) +5v
Negative (Black usually) -5v
Signal (White usually) 0 to +4.9v

Then any other wires are usually just wiring for battery indicator lights.

Did the throttle have any of these?

The controller seems ok since you have had it working on the pedelec front so something is adrift on the throttle side.

Thanks for that Scottyf My wife has exactly the same bike so I thought I will borrow?? her throttle. I have both bikes side by side and plugged her throttle to my controller.
Switched mine on and full speed straight away. I reckon this rules out any throttle problems as it is the same fault with my old throttle a new one and my wife's one.

Should I try her controller. I can take a note of all the plug connections eg brake levers, ped, throttle etc and swap over. This would at least rule out the controller.

It would be worth a try just to see if it solved the problem.
I'm now wondering if something has shorted in the controller to bridge the throttle signal and jam it on.

Thanks for the replies. Problem is with the controller. swapped them over and my bike is now fine. Wonder if the Mrs will notice her throttle is not working! Have to phone Alien and see if they have a controller.

One other thing to check - might be an easy fix. It doesn't make sense that it stops when you unplug the throttle. The only logical reason is that the 5v wire is shorting with the signal wire only when the connectors are together. Therefore the problem must be in the connectors, so have a look in the connector on the controller side to see if you've got a bent pin or something else that causes it to short when you insert the other half, or if you used your old connector on the new throttle, check that side too.

Had a look at both connectors for throttle and nothing is visibly wrong. When i put my controller onto the Mrs bike her bike then had my problem of running constantly on full speed. And with her controller on my bike mine works perfectly.
This is why I assume problem is with controller. Has anyone opened one up for a look inside? Alien don't have a controller in stock but are trying to locate one.
