Swytch battery x2 not turning on

Hi I fear the worse. I have two of the large Swytch original bike batteries both with little use One is almost brand new. I have two chargers. They are kept in my study and they both discharged .

when placed on the charger the charger shows red as charging and goes to green showing full charge . The batteries will not turn on .

is there anything I can do ? I have googled and I believe that my failure to notice them requiring a charge is costly mistake. I always kept them topped up to 50% and in my study. But having problems with my bike and getting a Ribble electric bike and working away from home I feel I have made a costly error.

I appreciate any thoughts on this matter

Galling and expensive isn't it. If it's the same problem as I had also with a large Swytch battery (see separate threads), then my theory is that the BMS (battery management system) inside drained a fair bit of current on standby (perhaps the reason for the physical on/off switch. The battery in my case had a manufacturer's label on it. I emailed them - they strongly advised not dismantling the battery* - and if a warranty claim to return battery to them. It was outside warranty so I didn't bother. Might be worth checking the voltage if you can on the power cable - should be about 42V when fully charged and no load. Peter

I know, im hoping there may be some simple things to try to see if it will reboot. I await further comments . If by chance they both come back to life i will let you know. Gutted

A very poor suggestion that could lead to an over heat or other BMS failure episode, end result a fire .

ONE SHOULD NEVER LEAVE A BATTERY ON CHARGE FOR LONG PERIODS WITHOUT SUPERVISON.

One needs to physically measure the voltage as it may give a clue, other wise try holding down the switch for a prolonged period 30 secs or so to see if it has asleep mode.

Logically though from the post #1, one would think the BMS has drained a cell or two too low for any charging to occur.
There is no harm in opening them to measure voltages to be sure that they are indeed junk and need recycling.

If in doubt simply take them to be recycled.

Hi, I had the same issue, except mine would charge to 1 bar but then the charger indicated that it was full. After getting in touch with Switch and following all their instructions they sent me a new charger (which I thought was a waste of time, I was convinced it was a battery issue) and it worked. It charges properly again.

Hi, I had the same problem with my 4 year old original bike battery not turning.
I carefully peeled the cover back(fold the zip overlap up first) and found an on/off rocker switch.
I rebooted the battery by turning off and on again.
The red lights fired up again to my great relief as I didn’t fancy Shelling out £300 for another.
I charge my battery about every couple of months to preserve its life and keep it ready for my occasional use.
