Hi All - Newbie here so apologies in advance.

Just got a new ebike and its been disappointing as I have to pedal more than I envisaged to get to max speed and its been a bit of a struggle up hills.

I have been stalking these pages for clues and apparently switching the controllers from a 15 to 20 amp might help ? Other question is if the controller I found as a potential replacement:

is a suitable substitute for what I currently have (please see pics)
Thanks.

As I have explained in the PM carry out a simple shunt mod, much cheaper option.
One thing I haven't mentioned is check the C5 setting is set to 10.

Interestingly I notice that your KT has the Hall wires split up in to 2 x 3 flat SM connectors instead of the normal 1 x 6 dj7061 connector block. I assume the change is a vendor/customer option.

If you look at the controller on Daniel's site it utilises the dj7061 connector I talk off, which is the one most used by KT.

The vendor seems to have done all sorts to make even the LCD Dispaly impregnable. I know the controller settings should be accessible simply by holding the up and down button for a bit, but that doesn't work on this LCD display.
To change from km/h to mph, I had to type on once, up once, down once, on once, up once down once. . .Just so looong. So I am thinking I might need to get another LCD Display along with the controller :(

Will this connectors work ? - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DJ7061-6-3-11-Multi-Connector-6-Way-6-3mm-Terminal-Block-Plug-Electrical-Socket-/152632370554

Thanks so much.

That's a bummer if so and believable since they have also changed the sense wire connectors. If buying new conrtoller /lcd buy as a pair from the same vendor. Some also change the male/females connectors so you are forced to buy from them at inflated prices, I always buy the generic type that is std KT factory specc.

It isn't the compatible one used on ebikes, the designation is dj7061a-2-8-11.

Before you go as high as 20A, can your battery supply that much current?
Soldering the shunt is the easiest and cheapest way to get more current. Solder 20% of its length to go from 15A to 18A.

When connectors don't match, cut them off and solder the wires.

Whenever you buy a KT controler, always buy the LCD with it to make sure that it's compatible.
