Hiya all,
I know it's not ebike related but I was wondering if I could draw on the experience of others here.

Since my conversion I have been riding further, longer and faster. I am really starting to notice the bumps and holes in the road, probably because my speed is up a fair bit compared with pedalling alone.

The bike has suspension forks but I am wondering if it's worth adding a suspension seat post. I have read mixed reviews on the net about them. What are your thoughts and possible recommendations?

The sliding post type don't work at all for me, though some very much heavier than my 70 kilos seem to find them ok.

If I did ever decide I needed one, I'd go for one of the parallelogram linkage designs.

Sliding pillar type didn't work for me either, in fact it gave me a bad back.
I now use a Suntour SP12-NCX suspension seat post, its well made and strong enough though I'm no lightweight and I'm delighted with it.
I think the parallelogram design is good for me as you go backwards and down rather than slightly forward and down, no bad back now.
I have a full suspension bike as well and whilst the Suntour seat post will never be as good as that I think its as near as you would get.
Just a warning to anyone fitting to a brooks B17, you may need to spread the seat runners a little to make room for the linkage to move properly!

No to the usual suspension posts with the bellows. They're a complete waste of money.
A definite yes to the Suntour NCX.

The next problem is that my seatpost dia is 30.4mm which is an unusual size.

I treated myself to a Cancreek LT Thudbuster in January when Rose had a sale on, and have to say that I can't fault it.

The ride has been transformed, and if it wasn't for cost, I'd have one fitted to both bikes. As it is the seat post on both bikes is the same diameter, so I just swap the seat and stem over.

I would buy a decent saddle to be honest, I ride mine mostly off road and dont have any issues.

When I looked into the seat posts I found the ones I could get, would twist
Not so good, I admit they were not that expensive.

There's two versions. One is a it cheaper than the other. I'm not sure which one I tried - probably the cheaper one.

Suntour NCX SP 5 was my best cycle related purchase ever, in fact I use it on two bikes.
I wouldn't use the plunger type ever again even if the were free in my cornflakes

Hi Trex

Only had the Bear 4 weeks and done around 160miles so far. I’m a first time ebiker and so far love it; I changed the tyres to Continental travel contacts for better rolling as I use it to commute mainly roads and tow paths, had a few loose nuts and bolts but tightened up what I needed and used a little thread lock, put the bike together myself and set the gears and brakes up after a 20-30 miles running in as the cables set but would do this with a normal bike, so far so good, I run with the motor set at level 3 or 4 and constantly pedal I don’t use the throttle, and often find myself running above the cut off on the flat, 15.5mph. The motor cuts in with a head wind and on the hills and just makes it a please to ride.

Chose the bike after trolling the net, using the forum and comparing bikes and looking for power for the money, being a little on the heavy side and didn’t want to spend too much first time. The service from Woosh has been great, and the bike arrived on time, well packed, all ordered over the phone as I'm in the sunny north, no issues yet, touch wood so I haven’t needed to get back in contact.

All in all so far I would recommend it, maybe when we’ve done a few more miles I will be able to comment further

Cheers Jason

Would love to see the bike Jason, I'm in Yorkshire too, dealt with Woosh bikes a bit and the service is always great. Might bump into you on the Spen Valley Greenway!

While we're talking about Woosh bikes, my Zephyr has full suspension so no need for a bouncy seat post... ;)
