When I see comments of the type 'the government just wants more tax money' in an article then I don't take it very seriously. Such comments show an almost childish view of government (other than certain dictatorships I suppose).

If this is an April fool prank, then was it a wise thing to do?
Was the purpose to wind up the readers of the Blog?
I thought the purpose of a Blog was to communicate life, etc, to the faithful followers.
Hardly fair on the faithful followers, if the Blogg owner is going to take the p*** at every opportunity.
Could this indicate some sort of sado masochism undertones?

Here's someone else who went to far and ended up with egg on their face.

You sure about that John? Such wording is childish, but it's obvious that the treasury and our chancellors of recent generations have been engaged in a permanent search for additional revenue to meet the requirements for government plans.

That's why the income tax proportion of income has gone up by 2000% in the last 100 years.

You are right about that flecc. The role of government increased significantly in the last century and they had to raise funds to for that. Those increases in tax are not arbitrary though. Taxes are also reduced sometimes; I pay 75% less tax on my car than 3 years ago!

True enough John, mine's down too. Mind you, they've done very well out of the oil price increases, the proportion of tax revenue from fuel costing motorists far, far more than any reductions in road fund tax. :(
