they wont work on a cargo ship lol ;)

Yeah, I know. I've read about electric power supplementation beinginstalled on modern cargo ships. If they ever deliver on fusion... everything will change.

We're a lot better at making tunnels now, and that particular monstrosity seems to have been plagued by construction errors made by contractors.

Nobody would have dreamed a hundred years ago that the channel tunnel was possible, let alone safe (if indeed, it is).
Boston's was a brave try at separating traffic from people's lives though, traffic below and parks and pavements above. Before its time of course and made more difficult in a country which worships cars as gods.

Whoever wrote that Wikipedia article just enjoyed putting the boot in while scarcely understanding the good intentions.

Yes, hiding cars underground rather goes against the grain. We'll see (we'll be dead of course by then) such infrastructure made under the lunar surface:

...by convicts, probably. Bezos .

"Slow boat to China" ? Of course it could be done, but commerce can't wait. As supplemetary propulsion perhaps.

It's entirely practical as supplementary power when available, but the industry is only interested if it makes money.

That of course isn't the point, it's value is in cutting the filthy emissions of shipping to help conquer climate change. International legislation is the answer, "Ve haf vays of making you understand!"

Not just wind of course, the immense surface area of oil tankers and bulk carriers covered with solar panels as they mostly sail close to the equator could produce loads of propulsion power, subject to electrical safety measures of course.

Towing wind turbines is also a possibility, while solar panels become more efficient:

Are you advocating a Greta-led deep green fascist world? It can't work. We don't have to ditch technological progress and capitalism, but it'd cost 15 trillion to reverse global warming - cheap compared to the 16 trillion spent on the Covid-19 response so far.

I reckon it may cost a great deal more than that.
It may take a couple of generations too.
I watched the video in your post #68 late last night.
The effort to tear down a Tesla battery! That would put off large scale recycling.
We'll have to refine our battery technology a lot more before we could even consider reversing global warming possible.
