Suntour Motor Failure

My Carrera Crossfire Suntour Motor has failed. Unfortunately Halfords wont look at it as it was an Ebay purchase.
The unit has only done about 700 miles so it is worth a repair.
Can anyone please recommend a ebike motor repairer. I may have caused the problem myself by spraying WD40 on the rear gear mechanism and chain. Very reluctant to take it apart myself as I dont know anything about these motors. I hope somebody out there can help me.

The Crossfire are notorious for cutouts; it may not be a motor failure. Double check all the batter and control connections as best you can. If not, contact https://www.performancelinebearings.com/ and see if they can help (not sure what brands they deal with)

WD40 is not the right stuff for gear/chain under most circumstances; you need something much thicker.

Thanks for quick response, the motor has definitly gone I borrowed an identical wheel and motor hub and the bike did 20 mile no bother.
Used the WD40 to loosen the gunge up then put 3in1 light oil on the mechanisms.

The Suntour system is a closed electronic one like The Chinese Bosch ones and parts only available through dealers, in this case Halfrauds.
If you can't get it working at all then you need to spend about £120 and buy a completely different leccy kit for it. You can keep the hub and battery but will need a new controller, lcd, pas and then can add a throttle using KT controller & associated components.

Thanks Nealh for this info, it certainly puts me in the direction of a sccondhand wheel. I think I will just take the covers of the motor and see if there is anything obviviously wrong.
