Hello I've had a Carrera Crossroad E for just over two years now and never had any problem with the torque sensor or system until now.

One of the four torque springs inside the crank set has broken, which then blocked the crank from turning and broke the torque sensor housing.

Does anyone know if it's possible to replace the springs in the crank? If so, does anyone know where to buy one or if they are an off the shelf component?

I don't really want to buy a whole new one which will be £175-200 when/if they come back in stock.

Thanks!

What type and size of spring? Pictures help. If it is a standard bought in spring then you stand a chance of finding something of similar size etc, but if specially made then less so.

You can run with one less spring. I removed one for someone that wanted to pedal with a bit less effort. It worked fine. The chance of finding one as a spare part is pretty close to zero. It's a shame because I still have the one that I removed somewhere, but no idea where. I looked in obvious places for you, but not there. Your best chance would be to find a used complete crank on Ebay because the price new is hideous.

I managed to find someone selling a replacement crank for a good price on facebook marketplace so no need to service it now.

In the meantime I need to get a crank puller so I can remove the broken spring while I'm waiting for the new one to arrive.

Thanks for your responses!

Thanks for having a look! It's a bit sad that it doesn't seem possible to buy replacement springs

The spring is fixed at one end. I got it out by levering with a screwdriver at the unfixed end. I remember it was difficult to figure out which end was fixed, but if you have a broken one, it should be obvious.
