maplins heated gloves battery too bulky and akward not any real difference when worn outside.
For me it's the same with all heated gloves, for practical reasons the elements can't be in the best places. I suffer from Raynaud's syndrome, meaning my fingers go dead with no circulation at the slightest hint of cold and it's got very much worse with age. When younger it only happened with real cold, but now it can even happen as high as 15 degrees C. It's a bit like frostbite at much higher temperatures.

I've tried several types of heated gloves over the years and have a pair of those Maplin ones currently. They heat the palms, but the heat rises up into the sleeves rather than down into the fingers where I need it.

The sealskinz gloves get a big thumbs up from me.
My hands remained lovely and warm throughout the whole ride. :)
I might have to try a pair of these as my fingers get sore now with the slightest bit of cold even with merino liners and ski gloves, maybe I'm getting that syndrome flecc has.

I've just read a bit about Raynaud's syndrome as my fingers seem to loose circulation and go sore.
Apparently silk liners are recommended, have you tried those in the past?

Yes, but they didn't work for me. I even imported a pair of the metallised liners that astronauts use in the freezing temperatures of space, but they were no better.

In the advanced stage I seem to have now, just a hint of cold detected seems to switch off the circulation to fingers and toes. Strange though it seems, I pre-bake shoes and gloves in the oven and put them on hot. That gives me half an hour or so before I start to lose feeling while out.

That's real shame Tony, I guess you won't be going to the international space station anytime soon;)

My son started a new job last week so last night I went to meet him from work and rode back with him to his home which is about 6 miles.

I had already been out on my bike for an hour or so with the temperature a degree or so above freezing and even with the Sealskinz my fingers were frozen.

After arriving at my son's house and defrosting my fingers, he gave me a pair of glove liners that he doesn't use, they did make a bit of difference when I rode back to my home.

A day trip maybe, but for six months it would be too boring!

Suffered the fingers again at 1.30 pm driving a short distance in a cold car to the supermarket. On arrival my breathing was unnaturally rapid and pulse going crazily eratic.

Back home warmed up hands immersed in warm water and thought I was ok, but at 3.30 pm my BP crashed and I was feeling very faint. Checked on manometer and BP was 71 over 47, the minimum shown as low on charts.

Still alive and kicking though. :)

I've a pair of giordana full finger gloves. I've had them years and find them really good. Not too hot but wind proof. Took a fall wearing them the other day and they're only slightly scuffed.

I have been using blazewear heated liners in side ski gloves (cheapies) with the rechargeable battery packs, comfortable in minus 1,just about OK in minus 3 and they heat the outside of the fingers, not cheap but do the job,and although I dont get reynaulds,my hands do feel the cold.

hi all since I first posted way back in feb re glove recommendations.
first pair sealskinz xl out of stock got refund.
next cycleze recommended cycles xl gloves from absolute cycles never arrived, trip to local parcel depot nothing there,
dave at absolute cycles had no stock of sealskinz xl left to replace ones that did not arrive,
so offered a pair of performance cycle gloves or performance thermal cycle gloves xl in replacement at no extra cost to myself.
posted yesterday received today with pre paid envelope to return the (missing gloves should they turn up)

can just about get hands into gloves though not tried out in the elements yet

a bit too nippy for comfort today
