Whilst having a good saddle is important and suspension can help, the main thing to note is that as you get out more and more your body will change and adapt to being on a saddle. Things will improve as the miles increase.

Just think of Steve Abraham who is trying to break the record for cycled miles in a year. He is doing 200 miles a day - last week he had a rest day and only did 140!

That is just what I was going to say. :)


I did purchase padded cycle trousers from liddl the other day, but having tried them on indoors, theres no way I am going to wear these outside. looked like a football stuffed in a sausage skin, (need to lose a bit of beer belly)
You probably had a lucky escape there. The Crivette cycle shorts that Lidl's sell, don't even make for a good rag, and even less so as a pair of cycle shorts.

You pretty much get what you pay for in relation to cycle shorts, but Rose make some superb ones, as do Specialized. I prefer both over my Altura ones, but even they aren't that bad.

ncx arrived yesterday have fitted it seems ok not tried it on any bumpy stuff yet.
eddie wont be wearing lidl cycle trousers 3/4 length, but about 4 years ago bought lidl cycle shorts with removable padded liner and in the summer use the liner on its own under normal shorts.
I would like to get out a bit more on the bike but its a bit to cold /windy for me at the moment so ive been busd pass bashing
