I think that was Flecc's point...it's not all about utility. Most of us buy products from the heart as well as the head, I know I do! :)
I think my head rules my heart before I start any actual spending

Buy a Teg Heuer and it is instant depreciation soon as you walk out the shop...reason being Tag spend so much on celebrity endorsements the watches are apparently 30% overpriced. also within 12 months you can find them in Costco etc...whereas a Rolex submariner appreciates in value.

So is the Storke the Tag Heuer of e bikes or the Rolex:confused::p

...but buying a watch like the Rolex is a purchase of the heart...the fact that it may appreciate in value is meaningless unless you bought it actually intending to sell it to make a profit and there are better ways to invest money than in a Rolex!

Sorry waaay off topic! :p

Neither Eddie, since the Storck is better at doing it's job than the cheaper e-bikes, and often very much better. The Tag Heuer and Rolex are worse at doing their job of time keeping than many much cheaper watches as I've posted earlier.

That was a joke, the point being about hype....as was shown by the poll result, where a bike that hardly any had tried did so well.

Aha! but it tells you nothing! Unless you where there riding with Cakey then how can you relate to it?.... How steep was the hill? How fit is the Rider? What speed did he climb at? How heavy is he? etc etc etc etc etc.... :D
Sorry ... but having read Cakey's previous posts, I don't need to have been there! Cakey's account is good enough for me. Oh ye of little faith!:)

I don't do hills ... I'm never in a rush to get anywhere ... anyway, he's not heavy (he's my brother)

HE LIKES IT! ... Good enough for me ... :p

How many others out there LIKE IT ????? And if you don't like it, WHY NOT?

... In many areas where the steepest hills don't exist, a crank drive isn't necessary. A direct drive like the Raddar is ideal then, simplest and least complex, no excess chain/sprocket wear problems, no internal gears to wear and fail like the SB motors and much more silent than them. Yet still with the high torque to handle the odd very steep hill that might be encountered, albeit with high current drain but which doesn't matter if it's only occasional.
Which means, flecc, that this is an ideal bike for North Norfolk; you describe the situation here perfectly! I'm having a demo ride on Friday :) Would love to hear from more Stork Raddar riders, though. :( ... I am considering making the Storck Raddar my second bike. :D

Suffolk?? Where those pesky South Folk live??

Mmmm ... I'll check with matron:p (I'll Google Justebikes if I can get the iPad off my mother)

What do I ask for when I get there?

I might suggest you ask the owner, Mr. Fitzgerald, if Haibikes are in fact "IN STOCK, AVAILABLE FOR IMMEDIATE DELIVERY". I think you may find they most certainly are not!

I paid the full price up-front for a Haibike Eq Trekking some twelve weeks ago, and not a word from Mr. Fitzgerald other than an automated acknowledgement by e-mail, and a brief phone conversation in which he suggested September as a delivery date.

Oh dear! :( Earlier this year, I paid up front for my Wisper and was then informed that it wouldn't be available for a couple of months, so I know how disappointing and frustrating that can be. I put it down to being a one-off and, to be fair, I was kept informed on the progress of my order at each stage. I suspect that, at most dealers, orders are only accepted if pre-payment is made. Anyway, in future, I would want immediate delivery ... or I look at another bike or dealer.:p

Is this standard when purchasing bikes? Have others found this 'pay in full now, delivery some months away' to be their experience?

If I head south, I will ask Mr Fitzgerald what your latest delivery forecast is! Thanks for the 'heads up'.

Must saddle up now ... we are fully charged!:)

I've not experienced it, before purchasing my bikes I spoke to the dealer/manufacturer first to find out what stock they had!

Were you given an earlier delivery date when you ordered Bob ?

What is/was the reasoning behind paying in full for something before getting it ?

Personally, I would never ever do that even if it WAS for a bike I really wanted........I hope you either get it soon or find something better (?) and get your money back !

Very timely warning though to other potential buyers, and Im sorry you have found yourself in this frustrating predicament .

Lynda :)

Its up to you....As you already have a powerful road bike, maybe the Xduro RC its a 20kg bike. Why I suggested the visit is because it is near you, and it will give you the opportunity to see what the Bosch system is like and have a proper demo. if they have no stock there are other Bosch powered bikes available in the UK now, they all use the identical crank drive system. so you can choose what bike you like dependent on spec

There are at present about 7 different makes of bikes featuring Bosch drives available in UK,and about 40 in Germany. from the likes of KTM, Haibike, BH Emotion, AVE, Scott, Cannondale, Corratec

Corratec E-Shape Bosch 2012 | Buy Online | ChainReactionCycles.com

KTM eBikes at the E-Motion store

Most of these come in different frame sizes so you can find a better fit, and some have a dropped crossbar.

If you prefer the feel of a Storke you should then maybe compare with a Cube (4 frame sizes). They use a 36v system with similar Go Swiss motor. a very stylish range of bikes.18.8kg XT gearing etc...

Cube Epo Electric Bike 2012

have fun!lol

Blew it,it may not be the owners fault, although that does not excuse the long delivery time. I tried buying Bosch powered bikes off many of the higher end German manufacturers,to be honest most of them have an arrogant not-interested attitude when selling to the uk. KTM at least told me that they were not interested, the rest just ignored my e mails,I understand KTM have now appointed a uk distributor, but they will only hold test bikes as stock, all orders will be placed direct with Austria-be interesting whether that works.
My advice is if you want one of these German bikes go over to Germany and buy one,the strongish pound against the Euro should be cost effective at present.
It was for bad delivery problems that we decided to stock the Bosch powered spanish BH bikes,we have good stocks of all models, the Xenion 650 is a very nice bike.
Kudos will not advertise a bike that we cannot supply in 24 hours from stock, surprising how many dealers take an order then try to source, that is against our business ethos-we never take payment for the product until the goods are available to despatch
