Obvious for me, but also they can HEAR me coming (old Giant Lafree) :)
I like the retro look of a pedelec

I can see the problem there flecc,i do think they could maybe offer some sort of optional cover for the battery,i am sure it would help sales to us embarrased by the obvious electric types.
Another way would be what the new Giant Lafree bikes had with them at delivery, optional self adhesive side panels to cover the two battery sides. Below you'll see photos of a new plain Lafree battery and below it a battered old one with the striped adhesive panels in place:

Stealth for me

I'd rather park my kit assisted bike with other bicycles as it would - I guess - look less attractive to those wishing to steal a bike.
My rack mounted battery is covered with the panniers that carry the wet weather gear / work clothes / packed lunch !
Not had many double takes that I know of and have passed quite a few bikes (and been passed at full assist too).

I have been accused of "cheating" but only by car driving non-cyclists !

I get accused of cheating by a bloke at work who rides a carbon fibre racing bike,he has the shoes that lock onto the lightest pedals he could afford, the look on his face when i overtake him you can see he just hates it.

Hide the battery:confused: I have two batteries on all my bikes(and two motors on one)
You see, as your hair starts to go grey you couldn`t give a fig what everyone thinks, you just want to do or get where you are going in the least painful way possible and if others are foolish enough to use pedal power then more fool them:D

Tell him he also cheats and should walk to work....if he says it'll take too long or its too far then you've won the argument :D

as i have said many times before - any time you choose a wheeled vehicle ( powered or not) its cheating, if thats what you wish to call it, i call it using your common sense.
