Stagecoach bus ban for e-scooters over public safety fears

The battery-powered vehicles are facing bans across the country.

There are many e-scooters where I live and I have never seen one being ridden dangerously. People rely on them to get to work because the bus service is too infrequent.

The police turn a blind eye to them as well. They know damned well that people rely on them for getting to and from work.

So nobody is going to worry about not being able to take them on a bus in my area. Otherwise they wouldn’t have bought a scooter in the first place.

They seem to have only been a very short lived early summer fad in my area, never in large numbers and I haven't seen any for weeks.

They won't be happy in the spring if they try to get them going again and find the battery completely dead.

it is renewable tech so just throw it in the bin and buy a new one, and then watch the bin lorry catch fire next tuesday

I popped into Toolstation the other week and was chatting to a nice lady behind the counter who said that her son had just started a new job and she told him to go to Halfords and get one on an instalment plan so she didn’t have to get up at 4am to drive him to work on the early shift.

So people really do need them for practical reasons.

currys sell them as well now but like halfords not 1 sign saying that they are not road legal done on purpose imo.

i have never seen anyone get off a bus with one tho.

Meanwhile, the House of Lords have launched yet another enquiry into the use of electric transportation. I’m sure it will have a very positive outcome after several more years of debate.

i have never seen anyone get off a bus with one tho.

Nor me. They can't be carried on any of TfL's London Bus or Underground services, but legal pedelecs only can be, outside of the rush hours.
