Yeah but isn't that yet another thing to charge up? Will it go haywire with microwave interference, when you pass sandwich shops? Or if you hold your phone wrong? How many frequencies is it using in total? If it's using unique codes on one or two frequencies, how many times a second does it communicate? When there is a group of bikes all using these, will some stop working? Seems unnecessarily overcomplicated to me - the more complictated something is, there more there is to go wrong, and the more expensive it is to fix.

Slap "Carbon" onto anything and it'll inflate the price. I'm sure if carbon 6-spoked carbon wheels were robst enough for serious downhill, the likes of Specialized would have them as options. Carbon is brittle, it cracks - and if those cabon wheels don't crack, they're most likely a "Composite" of mostly some polymer or other, with very little carbon. Plus those "Carbon" wheels are finished in carbon, which hides what carbon they may actually be made of. Goods with a high carbon content is often shown off without finishing. I seriously doubt that they're any good - have you seen a review? I bet customers just buy the things to look at, not use.

Imagine what would happen when you shattered two spokes at once, of a 6 carbon spoked, carbon wheel :eek:

They're probably some sort of polymer composite with a little carbon mixed in for a tiny bit of added stiffness, and a lot of carbon-badge price inflation.
