Sram EX1 cassette...spacings and thickness?

Ok, so a replacement EX1 cassette will break the bank...does anyone know if a standard 8 speed MTB cassette has the same spacings between the cogs and would the EX1 indexing be compatible?
Could I replace the EX1 with less than 10km on it(as new- then Ebay it!) for this-

https://www.ebay.co.uk/p/SUNRACE-M6-8-speed-11-40-Wide-Ratio-MTB-Mountainbike-Cassette-Silver/26024412490?iid=132804450732&chn=ps

The only difference is loss of the 48T but then a closer set of gears obviously not the 24/32/40/48 lowest 4 with a jump of 8 teeth at present...

I'd be happy to stick with 8 speed as the chains are probably more robust- would the EX1 chain fit this cassette?? Or would I need to replace the whole drive train?

Time to buy some Vernier calipers??

Hmmmm....there's a bloody thick spacer between the 48t and the wheel so no, I doubt the standard 8spd would have the same thicknesses and spacings....they've made a narrow 8spd to keep a tight chainline?? Be curious to measure the widths and see what could be made to fit lol...

I was going to reply but you have answered your own question
The ex1 with its spacer still takes up the room of 11 speed cassette
I wouldn’t worry if your happy stick with it and change when it wears out which could be years off

What I have read about it is that it is a complete drivetrain. The cheap solution is to move to a Sunrace 10 speed 11-46 cassette and Shimano derailleur and shifter.

The mistake they made was making an 8 speed wide range drivechain for e-MTB. If they made a wide range 8 speed drive train for trekking/commuter bikes with even spacing between gears it would be a much better option than a nexus 8 IMO.

£171 for the whole groupset- didn't really say how "used" it was though... Yeah think this is a huge white elephant from SRAM created with the best intentions but never gonna be competitive :

white elephant
noun

  1. a possession that is useless or troublesome, especially one that is expensive to maintain or difficult to dispose of.
"a huge white elephant of a house(groupset?!) that needed ten thousand spent on it"

The cassette, far from being weak, states-
"This cassette is also designed to be durable enough for the extra demands and abuse of E-MTB use"....

SO what EXactly was the point in EX1 ??!! If this is capable of ebike demands then when EX1 is dead the conventional stuff will only get better by the time I need it!

What sprockets would need to go with the NX Eagle 12 spd chain? I'm assuming that the sprocket for the 8 spd EX1 would be too thick for 12 spd? The cranks would probably be ok to keep....
