July 11, 201510 yr I'm talking about those squeezy bottles that have the caps with some sort of control valve in. Trying to make some ham sarnies today, I couldn't for the life of me put the right amount of salad cream on. No matter how progressively I squeezed the bloody thing, it would just suddenly jettison far too much sauce, and I ended up scooping the excess off with a knife. Maybe it's just me
July 11, 201510 yr Not you, designed that way! More sauce jettisoned = sooner you have to buy the next bottle. Simple economics!
July 11, 201510 yr No matter how progressively I squeezed the bloody thing, it would just suddenly jettison far too much sauce Store the bottle upside down, cap downwards, that will keep the content at the outlet liquid. If stored the other way with cap at the top, the small amount of air above the content can dry and thicken the portion stuck to the outlet, acting like a glue. Release when it comes then under higher pressure is sudden. . Edited July 11, 201510 yr by flecc
July 11, 201510 yr Meanwhile in a remote corner of the Serengeti an emaciated baby clings to it's mothers dead body. Its sibling of three years weighing 10 pounds tries to dribble dirty water on the mother's cracked lips from a rusty tin can. In a bit of scrub nearby sit three Jackals waiting patiently in the lowering sun ,the silence broken only by the heavy flap of gathering Vultures, and just discernible on the soft wind can be heard the faint murmur of cursing from Glamping tourists accompanying the rhythmic slurp of those damn squeezy bottles .Ain't life a bitch.

You beat yourself up if you want to, but life quality in Africa now is none of our doing. From end to end and side to side, their troubles today are entirely of their own making. .

I'd be more concerned about those jackals swiping the ham from my sarnie
July 12, 201510 yr Well I prefer mayonnaise from a large lidded glass jar, I can get a good man sized scoop out. Plus's its a little known fact but jackals just don't like mayo

July 12, 201510 yr Tell that to the emaciated baby. It's for those responsible to tell it. There is no relevance to what we have in this country in the way of squeezy bottles, or such luxuries as e-bikes. .
July 12, 201510 yr Author Tell that to the emaciated baby. A baby wouldn't be able to understand the complexity of the situation!
July 12, 201510 yr Author Starving children is revolting, but so is mayonnaise. Lived in Germany for 16 years. Couldn't get away from the stuff if I tried
July 12, 201510 yr It's for those responsible to tell it. There is no relevance to what we have in this country in the way of squeezy bottles, or such luxuries as e-bikes. . No relevance what so ever but it does go to show the poxy insignificant tiny litte things we waste our energies on.
July 12, 201510 yr Author No relevance what so ever but it does go to show the poxy insignificant tiny litte things we waste our energies on. I disagree. I have sleepless nights if I don't administer the correct amount of salad cream on my sarnie. Then I wake up grumpy. The wife and kids get it in the neck, as do work colleagues, friends and family. I bet I'm not the only one either. Who knows, world wars may have been caused over squeezy sauce bottles

But all the higher animals do the same to amuse themselves when they get the chance, such things as play for example. It isn't in any way wrong, it's called leisure and pleasure as opposed to necessity. If and when the Africans get their act together to spend less time on necessities, they too could have some leisure time to enjoy the little things in life. Meanwhile they continue to make their choices and the consequences are entirely theirs. As many knowledgable Africans themselves say, our western aid is just making things worse. We should stop interfering and leave matters entirely to them. They sit on huge natural resources and have had a century of examples on how to use those, so there'll be no excuse if they continue to fail. .
