Hi Again DBC

Is you experience in the simple fan type turbines or have you had any experience with the cylindrical wind turbines?

These turbines are uniquely suited to urban environments because they are:

Noise- and vibration-free
Safe for birds
Able to utilise multi-directional and gusting winds
Self-regulating (no over speed protection required)
Low maintenance
Made from low-cost and readily available materials

More details can be found on hwww.aerotecture.com/products.html

Looks interesting, if a little unproven.

However, one issue even with this design is localised turbulence. In an urban setting, the density of buildings and other obstacles act as a generalised wind shield, with the turbulence robbing the air of much of its speed. I notice that this design needs an AVERAGE speed of 10mph to be effective - the turbulence effect makes this difficult to achieve on an ordinary dwelling.
