Some people use them in winter over conventional cycle helmets because of the cosy ear warmers. I thought I might give one a go but didn't manage to get to Lidl in time when they were selling theirs. Aldi is much easier for me to reach as there is a store in Abergavenny now.

The Aldi helmets are ok. I bought one a couple of years ago. I don't use it on a daily basis throughout the winter, just on the very cold sub-zero days.

I got a Lidl helmet and its great in this frosty weather.
Its taller than my cycle helmet and feels a bit strange at first especially as sounds are a bit muffled by the earflaps but I am getting used to it now.
I am going to stick a peak on it though when I can find one.
Also the Aldi wild mushroom soup is surprisingly good and also helps keep you warm;)

Has anyone bought one of Aldi's ultrasonic cleaners?I am wondering how effective they are for cleaning chains. There seems to be mixed reports on other cycling forums.

Can't say that I have seen them and I wonder if they have large enough capacity?

I have a 'professional' ultrasonic cleaner with a capacity of 1500ml, timer and thermostatically controlled heater, but I wouldn't use it with any inflammable liquids, only for descaling or degreasing.

I have tried cleaning a chain in situ with a steam cleaner but it is very messy.

Its been too cold and icy on the roads I meant. i have an A2B metro with pretty slick tyres so it's having a break for winter!

I just changed my tyres from marathon pluses to spiked snow ones 2 weeks ago after I had a spill - solves the issue of not being able to cycle all year round and the cost of the tyres against the cost of the bike to get another 3 months use out of it over winter instead of being only able to use for 9 months of the year has to be worth it!

Unfortunately I haven't been able to find any 20" by 3" winter tyres. My new tyres for next year are going to be ContiGo moped tyres, they're the only ones that fit the A2B Metro.
