I think it looks great and makes kits available to more users. I've been put off kits before because there are too many variables, I would be far more confident using this kit than most others. Much of that confidence comes from the backup available.
I really like that the battery can be contained in the frame triangle but I worry that it is a bit wide and my legs will knock it, not a huge problem as it can just go back to the standard position behind the seat post.

I had decided that my next ebike will be a kit (whenever I do change), I was temped to go for a Cylcone kit but the simplicity of this one is very attractive.

When are the kits going on general sale, any reductions for beta testers? :D

I think this is probably the question that many wanted to ask but were too afraid to do so in public :p

My guess is the product has been thoroughly tested before coming to the market. We have seen others try and sell kits and give up after too many returns/angst and public complaints from unsatisified customers.

Given Wisper's customer service record, I doubt they would risk that happening to them before bringing it to the market.

Jerry

The kits will be completed within six weeks, the first batch will be expressed so they will be here in May.

I will certainly keep you all informed of their progress.

Hi Schoe

The new Dapu motor is excellent, much quieter than last year's model with almost no drag.

The Standard DaaHub is Black however if colour is an issue it would not be a problem to offer a choice of case colours, what do you think?

The red buttons are a part of the DaaHub styling, I would be interested to hear if anyone would prefer to see the kit with different colour buttons, does it make a difference?

Many thanks,

Best regards

David
Hi David. I prefer it in black to be honest as it looks less conspicuous the colour of the buttons is a trivial matter I don't think it makes any difference at all.

Its good that the motor is quiet with minimal drag.

How did the development of Daarack go have you any photo's?

Schoe.

Hi Shoe thanks for your advice.

DaaRack will be ready in September with DaaHub Extreem for the shows. We aim to have it on sale in the UK by spring 2012.

Best regards

David

I had a cyclone 500 kit on my sons bike and I was not that impressed it was noisy and the controller burnt out after 2 weeks and the kit feels cheap and nasty.:(

Daahub

Looks interesting - have you decided on a price point yet, or is that being kept under wraps until the launch?

Steve

PS does the name Daahub mean anything?

The motor is a Japanese product from Dapu and David has also used the term Dapush in the past.

I'd guess Daahub is a play on "It's daa hub man!", connotations of American or West Indian usage of English.

Similar to the African Minister of Defence who kept the fence around the ministry building in good repair. ;)

I'm not against Whisper bikes. They are probably good quality, if expensive. But can the moderators here please tell me why NO other supplier or manufacturer, according to your terms of use, would possibly be allowed to post what, with the best will in the world, is pure advertising.

Is this forum an independent one that invites opinions, or does it have "favourite" suppliers who are somehow allowed to circumvent the rules?

Please let me emphasise, I have nothing against Whisper bikes and they appear to run their business honestly and well.

But this constant plugging while masquerading as posting "interesting" topics is surely getting out of hand.

Thank you.

I understand what you're saying and why you're saying it, but it's only a small niche forum and there aren't that many suppliers, so there is kind of a mix of advertising and chat. Personally I'd rather have as much input as possible from everyone and filter it all out myself.

To be honest a lot of the suppliers are enthusiasts as much as businessmen.

The only problem is that suppliers aren't allowed to post unless they pay about a thousand pounds a year (not sure exactly but it's in that ballpark) so we don't get a balanced input from all suppliers which is a pity.

There is a wide manufacture input to this forum and I don't think there is any constraint on who can actually post. Wisper come up a lot because firstly the bikes and company are popular and secondly because the head man posts on this forum and makes himself available to answer questions and supply support. There is no hidden agenda or ulterior motive behind this, despite what it may seem from the outside.

Edit:'sorry post crossed with caph's

If all manufacturers/ businesses( and a lot actually do ) made themselves as accessable and helpful as David from Wisper then, in my opinion, it would be all for the better for everyone.
How anyone can critisise someone for constantly being helpful and informative to everyone is beyond me.
In my opinion david goes the extra mile and I, for one, appreciate that......whether or not I ever decide to buy his make of bike or another, I appreciate his time and his opinions.

Plenty of companies post new things on here, not many are manufacturers and so involved in design. Wisper pays attention to what people on here say they would like and the ideal kit was certainly debated a lot, it's nice when you see that designers have paid attention.
Ezee used to be the same but haven't spent much time on here recently, it's clear from their products as well that they pay a lot of attention to what users want.

I'm also supportive of the status quo, there are a number of companies who post in similar fashion in here such
as Juicybike and Storck-Radar most recently, and numerous others have previously.

It's the new product announcements and details that we appreciate the most, we are certainly not as
tolerant towards repetitive pushing of existing well known stuff and have made that point forcefully at times.

Wisper have figured more prominently simply because they have been so innovative, first with many things and
now first with a totally thought out kit system, even to a storage cover for the removed existing bike wheel.

Four years ago you would probably have made the same accusation in respect of the supplier postings about
eZee bikes, two years ago about Kalkhoff bikes, it's an evolving scene and it will be someone else next.

Well I'm glad it's been allowed on here (although I only joined this site today!) as it could be just what I'm looking for.

I really like the look of the Whyte bikes as well, was thinking I might do the conversion on my Trek FX7.5 but would prefer something with at least front suspension.

Is the price advertised on the website everything that would be needed? (other than the bike of course!)

What kind of range are you expecting and are extra batteries available?

Cheers,
Jay
