Smartmotion Essence Controlled

Hi all. I'm wondering if anyone can help with something. I picked up an ebike (Smartmotion Essence) and need to figure out what parts I need. It has a c500b display and a 36v 250w front hub motor. The controlller isn't working and I am hoping I can just replace that but got confused by the KT, JL, Lishui controller types and wondering what to do. The closest seem to be the Yose Power, but when I asked them, they suggested it was just for thier front hubs.

Controllers and displays normally need to be bought as a pair to make sure they talk to each other. Kt are used by lots on the forum and I see no reason why a display and controller would not work with any generic front hub.
Don't know the bike you're referring too, 'Smartmotion' could imply that there's some canbus or other communicatons jiggery pokery going on, in which case it could be difficult.

Thanks for the response. Research tells me that the display c500b is UART handshake based, so it should work with a lishui controller, but I'm not sure of that's just a firmware thing. In terms of the hub, is it just a power thing or does it also need a specific controller? If have attached some pictures of it helps.

Before buying a controller, you should test what's wrong, otherwise you waste time and money.

The throttle is working, the motor is running fine. Just the lights and the pedal assist don't work. The controller looks partially damaged. Potential shorts on the board.
