small wires on prototype pcb

Hello there,

I did a small discovery recently, it's the prototype pcb at 2.54mm pitch. It allows to directly put connectors in it without drilling as long as all pins are 2.54 distance from each other.

It allows me to quickly test and place all the jst balance connector in one place without mess.

But connecting all the pins together is a mess:

I'm using wires strands but it's far from optimal. Anyone know any straight wire or mini bus bar to connect with small current?

Choose an appropriate thickmess. About 0.8mm should be nice to handle, but make sure you use thicker if it has to carry any current.

Thanks dave, but they don't seem to be superstraight. They can wobble and touch other wires creating a short easily.

Something as straight as needle would be better?

Try pulling a length of the wire with pliers at either end to give it a slight stretch, this straightens the wire and leaves it slightly "hardened" so it will remain straight, and then you can cut off the length you need. Used to use this technique on the ancient RAF instruments and their "tag boards" I was trained on 50 yrs ago

For that job Veroboard is much simpler, no wiring and simply use a drill bit to cut tracks if you need to.

How do you use your 2 pliers, the solder and the iron together? I only have 2 hands lol

What about this 36 AWG wire? At least if they touch each other no problem

Yes, Id use Veroboard for paralleling JSTs. You have to cut the tracks where you don't want things connected along the tracks. A Dremmel cut them well with the little pointy burr tool.

You can still use the board you have, but you should use single strand wire, which is stiff, and you can bend it to any shape. It's called "Breadboard Wire". Here's some, but make sure you get single strand or single core. About 0.5 mm or 0.6mm should be about right.

10 Metres. " Black " Single Core equipment Wire 1/0.6mm | eBay

Seller mentionned it's perfect for prototype board

Sorry this was not clear. the operations are: cut a length of wire longer than u need and stretch slightly using the pliers as advised; then cut the wire to length needed; then solder in place. Only one pair of hands needed for each operation
