Hi all,
I have always loved bikes and I have always tried to own at least one, I put this down to always wanting one as a boy and drooling over all the exotic full suspension MTB's in nearby bike shops
I did save up for a long time working many summer jobs and in the end I bought a heavy Claude Butler second hand, I loved it but it was stolen a few weeks later
Anyway... Since I have been able to afford them I have struggled to enjoy/use them due to job commitments/time constraints and of course this meant that when I did have time I had a problem with fitness
I started a new job in Jan and this is the start of a lifestyle change for me and part of that is finally getting on a bike and commuting daily, I already owned a Whyte hybrid and although I love it I am unable to use it everyday due to pretty severe hills on my route to work
Last week a colleague arrived at work on an e-bike and it is something I had never considered, it seemed perfect for me so off I went on a mission to find one
Luckily for me I live near a good specialist ebike shop and as soon as I test rode one I was sold, in fact my girlfriend who had no interest at all decided to try one and guess what?
So I bought a Haibike hardseven 2 and she opted for a Haibike hardlife 3, I felt sick to my stomach handing over so much money if I am honest
I am not in the best of health and getting fitter was very important to me but my girlfriend suffers with lots of joint issues/arthritis etc, yesterday we were able to ride out for the first time together and had a brilliant time, just the thought of riding a bike was a non-starter before now and it has been a revelation!
I now realise it is only money and fingers crossed these shiny machines will change our lives for the better
Next week I am back at work and I will start commuting and I am confident/motivated and best of all excited
Anyway, thanks for reading and I look forward to learning/contributing
