Somewhere it does say a bike is not legal if it is not supplied with a bell does not conform to a EN number or something which makes them road worthy

Andover, Hants.
I've got a stebel magnum horn on my motorbike and it's 'effin loud and makes people jump (which is the reaction I want), it's too heavy for cycle use, but it would be good to find something that could clamp to the bars and run off AA's (a bit like my Hope Light) and would be loud enough to make people jump even through their earbuds!

I have an old fashioned little bell, I sound it well in advance and people move over ~ no problem.

I would agree with you but i understood that all bikes had to have a bell my new Oxygen arrived with none £1375 and they cant fit a bell
By law all new bikes have to be sold with a bell, but it doesn't have to be fitted! There was a time when dealers attempted to offer one with new bikes, but they've largely given that up.
