Should I / can I remove this?

This plastic disk seems a bit superfluous. I'm thinking it was for protection during shipping. Can I or should I remove it?

Whatever you do, don't remove it or you'll invalidate your warranty. That looks like a Cube bike. My friend had one with a Bosch motor that started making horrible noises. He took it back to the dealer, but as soon as they saw that the plastic bit was gone, they told him that they couldn't provide warranty because he'd messed with it.

Sorry but your friend needs too grow some
There is no way in hell that the warranty on a bike can be void because someone took off a packing protection item crickey next they would be telling someone it should not have been taken out of the box at all
If cube bikes are that fragile nobody would by them :)

I don't know how to tell you this , but.....

....The same thing also happened to my friend.

He took off that plastic thing, and within twenty four hours all the milk in his fridge had gone sour.
