Display only illuminates for a few seconds on a Thok Mig bike (pic won’t upload) while pressing the battery button. Wire between motor/controller and display has been crushed a bit by the screws inside the motor casing behind the plastic cover, but looks okay. Has anyone else seen this?.

Fingers crossed the battery isnt making a good connection. Clean and check the battery connection terminals, and take a voltage reading from the battery after giving it a full charge.
check its 'home' for debris or obstructions..
Generally any diy intervention beyond basic maintenance of bikes that cost more than most cars ive driven
is undertaken at the dealers as to not invalidate warranties.
just make sure your have your eyes wide open if you pick up the tools.

Steps is really simple, and often if you need a replacement part you may find one on Ebay.
Everything plugs into the motor. There are three cables, the big four way one from battery mount, and two small ones from speed sensor and display.
I would not bother trying to understand the fault in detail, just look for anything not normal and make it normal. Check all cable ends are properly plugged in, and if there is cable damage, carefully strip away the outer insulation and look inside. You may have a damaged small wire inside one of them stopping the CAN bus communications working properly.
If the bike was working before, there should not be much wrong.
