Hi first time here and first time on an ebike, I have just bought a GT e Pantera dash, it came with the thumb changer for modes and the small bluetooth thing on the brake cable, being steps system, can I add one if the Shimano screens instead of the bluetooth adapter as the screens are bluetooth, thanks in advance.

Yes. The display cable plugs into the motor, and the switch unit cable plugs into the display.

Three things to bear in mind:

1. There are two sizes of cable connectors! The E5000 motor uses the larger EW-SD50 type. Adapters are available if needed.
2. Some displays have two versions, one for each cable type. Check before buying, especially if buying secondhand online.
3. Not all displays have Bluetooth capability, e.g. the combined switch/display SC-E5003 does not.

Thankyou Mathew, when I find the one I think I may need I will post the model number, to see if its compatible, also would putting one on invalidate my warranty as the bike is less than a week old.

To avoid warranty issues you might need to use a dealer, or at least ask them or Shimano.

I have used the E5003 and the E7000 displays. If they have Bluetooth they will have FCC approval marking. Also, Shimano website should have full details.

E5003 no FCC marking.

E7000 with FCC marking.

I an going to ask the shop where I bought if it would do anything to the warranty if I do put one one, I do know they sell them so maybe buying one from them would help me out with warranty

It looks like the only compatible one is the SC E6100 bit pricey but I would rather know what charge is left on a ride rather than guessing

None are particularly cheap, but if your motor is an E5000, which I have, then all displays should work with it.

The charge remaining should be shown on all versions too, and it is straightforward to get precise information, more than the 1 to 5 bars. Every time you switch on, check the range in Eco, divide by full battery range in Eco and that is % remaining.

You'll gain confidence in the range as you gain mileage, the 5 bars are perfectly linear unlike the simple voltmeter displays on generic hub motor systems. When it drops from 5 to 4 bars you have 80% remaining.

If you ride mostly in level 2, and you have a 500Wh battery, then you can rely on about 40 miles range.

Thanks again Mathew, yes the motor is an E5000 the bike is a GT e Pantera Dash, so all the displays should work with this bike then, I could even use the SC-E8000 which would be ideal as its not too big
