Came across this on ebay Shimano Nexave ST-C530 three speed hub to take 8 speed cassette. Has anyone had any experience of this hub. If it is strong enough it might work very well with a crank drive motor.

I have used only Shimano Nexus Inter 3.
It's very effective with a CD motor but a bit limited.

Riese & Muller use a Sram 3 speed with a 9 speed cassette on a few of their bikes. it's a far neater way to achieve 27 gears than using a three speed front mech. It works very well.

All the best, David

I have this on my Birdy, I find it most pleasant to use.

This seems to be an older product no longer manufactured. It will also fit a 7 speed cassette with a spacer.

I wish someone would make a 2 speed one - normal 1:1 ratio and a low gear ratio, that would be perfect for a 7 speed cassette giving 14 gears which is more than enough for a pedelec on all kinds of terrain.
