Still learning so can someone explain the magnet count ?
I assume magnets in the drive hub?
does it affect power output or is it just for the speedo ?
and can anyone please explain the underlined sections from my instructions

thank you

P07 is how many magnets are used to give a speed signal.

If you have a direct drive motor, there is no speed sensor in it, so P07 is the number of magnets in the rotor.

If you have a geared hub-motor, the number of magnets is 1 or 6. You can tell which of the two by the displayed speed. If it's 1/6 of the actual speed you have it set to 6, but you only have one magnet. If the speed is 6 times too high, you have it set to 1, but you have 6 magnets.

In any case, you can use an external wheel magnet sensor, in which case P07 =1.

IIRC, KT controllers get the speed signal for the display from the speed sensor magnets, but it does the speed limit from the commutation pulses, the wheel diameter and the P1 setting combined. I tested one with a spoofed speed sensor signal. The displayed speed changed in accordance with the signal frequency, but the cut-off speed stayed at the same RPM.

Thank you for that.
The magnet count will be difficult as I have fitted a double reduction drive into my 20” wheel just to make the bike complete.
how about with the wheel set at 20” I keep altering the magnet count until it compares with a satnav speed signal ?
Thank you

Yes, that should work.
