I just recently changed my Swytch kit controller to KT 22A Controller Kit that I ordered off Amazon, and since it was difficult to find information on the correct settings for the new controller, I thought I would share them here. I bought a complete KT kit and replaced all the Swytch components other than the hub, it's really the only way to make everything work properly. This is the battery replacement that I used as well https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B089NRZMWK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1

It doesn't matter which KT Display you use, the options would be the same.

Important info for Swytch hub:

  • There is a 250-watt and 500-watt hub, but I believe the settings for both are the same.
  • The hub uses 6:1 ratio with 16 magnets in it. (To determine P1)
  • It has 1 magnet for the pulse signal (For P2)
  • The rest of the settings are attached, but are my setting preferences, where applicable.

So P1 is 96.

Correct (6:1 Ratio) 6 x 16 Magnets in the internal Hub (Per picture) = 96

I tried these settings and it works except the speed display is off (It reads 2mph when I am going 12mph)
also there is a delay in the pedal assist kicking in until I reach a certain speed.
I would appreciate any suggestions

Thanks

22A is too much for a Swytch motor. You need to cut down the max current in the settings, especially with a sensorless motor, like the one shown above. I'm not sure, but I think they changed to sensorless motors after the MK1 kit. In that case you don't need to worry about P1.

Which version motor do you have?

The speed display comes from the speed sensor and wheel size unless you don't have a speed sensor, then it comes from the P1 setting, which you know because no speed is indicated when freewheeling.

Thanks for the quick response.
Here are pictures showing the motor number and also the controller
Doesn't help. Is the motor sensored or sensorless?
What speed sensor do you have - on the wheel, in the motor or none?

Normally when you get 2 mph instead of 12 mph, it's because you have P2 set to 6 instead of 1. P2 is the number of magnets that make the speed sensor pulse, so if you make that mistake, the speed displayed would be 1/6th of the actual speed.

When purchasing the battery from the Amazon link make sure it is 36V 10Ah-100W-500W

… in the hope of clarifying, all Swytch hubs (both gen 2 and 3) have the commonly-used nine-pin connector, and that would make the hubs sensored I believe.

One would say yes , there is little logic in not having a fully sensored hub.

How do you get into these settings?

Within a few seconds of switching on, press and hold the up and down buttons. When you get to the end of the list of settings, nothing will flash. When you get to that page, press and hold them again to get to the next list, then again to get to the next list until you get to the end, then press and hold the power button to save them and turn back to the normal screen.

If you select settings but don't save them, they remain active until you switch off. For example, if you set a 15 mph speed limit, then reset it to 25 mph and didn't save it after switching on, the new 25 mph speed limit would apply until you switched off, then it would automatically reset to 15 mph.

The P1 setting in post #13 it is given as 96.

There are apparently variations in magnets and gear reduction ratios of the Aikema 100SX (and other motor no doublt) so this value may not work for you.

In my case using P1=96 gave a motor cut-off speed of 12 kph wheras after trying the 'cogging' method I came up with a figure of around 190 and setting P1=192 (double the initial setting) the cut-off speed is now, subject to fine tuning, much nearer the 25 kph I set in my system.

I posted about this experience HERE where there are other useful Swytch motor related comments.
