Finding my (electric) wheels

Hi all,
I have put together a couple of electric bikes for myself and my young lad and have had huge amounts of fun with them off road in woods and forests etc.
I used a kit that I purchased through germanladen, removed all the unnecessary bits and put on a much stronger downhill rim and far superior twist throttle.
For my son I used a 20" wheel and motor and used the same lcd 861 and controller.
Unfortunately my lad took a tumble and broke the lcd which I have since replaced with a newer version SW 900 together with its controller. I have been through the set up manual but haven't managed to gain the 5 levels of assist. Levels 1-5 all seem to be full power.
Has anyone else managed to set these up, I am not using the crank sensor just twist throttle but have set the correct parameter accordingly.
Thanks to anyone that can help.

In nearly all controllers, levels 1 to 5 only affect the pedal assist. The throttle is completely independent. How they work depends on the softyware in the controller's cpu. The only ones I've seen where the levels limit the throttle were LiShui controllers.

Hi d8veh,
Thanks very much for your help, that answers a similar problem I had with an lcd3 set up.
There seems to be so many variations of LCD/ controller set ups it could start getting expensive, very addictive though!
Regards.
