Servicing a Cube Kathmandu

My bike has now done a little over 3000 miles. It was serviced by a general bike shop at about 1200 miles - although apart from changing the chain and cassette I'm not sure what the service actually comprised. The original supplier has done a moonlit flit. Since the display is now calling for service it clearly needs attention. I am not over-supplied with money, living as I do on a meager pension so I don't fancy getting a huge bill. I have some competence in handling mechanical devices over a wide range of applications so I was wondering what this service comprises. Is there a service manual available? The manual supplied with the bike is horrible. Saving a few euros by packing in all the earth's languages has succeeded in making it nearly unusable.

Clearly the motor and electronics are not really user serviceable. However the rest of the bike is just a bike. The bike shop I used last time told me that the motor etc had to go back to Germany in case of repairs. However it is a mechanical device and one assumes periodic re-lubrication is a requirement as it has been on everything I've ever worked on from bulldozers to watches. I have a bike stand and a few tools. How do others deal with similar situations? Suggestions from other Bosch motor riders appreciated.

That "service" indicator is just a reminder that can be set or not set by a dealer to flash up at a set number of miles. It has nothing to do with whether the bike really needs a service or not. IIRC a Bosch dealer can turn it off if it bugs you.

A lot of bike shops post lists of what they include in a bike service and what they'll charge, and there're also lots of youtube videos to show what to check, lubricate, tighten or change for routine servicing. Electrically there's not much anyone can do - it either works or it doesn't, so if it all runs fine it's best left well alone IMHO.

SW maintains his Bosch drive but that is just simply regrease and may be light internal clean not much else you can do.
Diagnostics need a dealer to plug it in and then they can't do much except a software upgrade otherwise it is swap and exchange.
All other mechanical servicing you can do your self, wheel hub greasing/adjustment, headset/ tube greasing or replacement sealed bearings, brakes & drive gear maintenance and cable adjustment/renewal.

After reading the few replies to this topic, which I sincerely believe by the way, this appears to an outsider, me in this case, (not a Bosch rider or owner or "believer"), that there is a further "dark area" associated with some Bosch e-bike products and their marketing methods.....
The list is apparently getting longer and longer.....
But it was still great hearing about someone with the start of a fairly reasonable mileage! As I have heard of too many here in Germany, who have not even achieved that short distance!
regards and everyone enjoy the rest of the weekend, we here are! :) :) :) :)
