Modern smartphones are pin-point accurate with speed and position - not like the ones your probably thinking of.

I remember cycling in my youth, many many enjoyable rides with friends and family.
No phones, cycle computers or other gadgets.
Just our rusty bikes. How did we ever have a good day out?

Must admit, I've no need of a smartphone on a bike. In fact I don't want a smartphone at any time.
I got sucked into buying one once and got fed up with charging it all the time. So I was glad when it developed a fault and I got my money back.
Gone back to my ancient Sony Ericsson W810i, that I just use for calls & texts, and a charge lasts over a week.
I'm also free from having to constantly stare at a smartphone screen, when in the pub, shops, restaurant etc etc.
Sometimes less is more.

Two's up on that, I've returned to using a Motorola V3 RAZR...£20 once a year top-up on Pay-as-you-go.

And I don't give a fig for what any belligerent loud-mouthed technophile thinks of that....right!! :p

Some people are very happy with their BSA bike with 3-speed Sturmey Archer that was built in the '60s and they would argue that you don't need an electric bike either. Let's face it. We never had them when we were kids either, but we still enjoyed many miles of happy cycling.

Cheap Halfords wired computer now fitted and working.

The fork sender is much smaller and neater, and the rest looks OK, just another black cable on a black bike which already has lots of black cables.

The wireless one is still available if anyone can make use of it.

I'll even throw in a non-working Bosch dongle, because it looks like no one wants that, either.
