Does anyone make a controller that accepts or has a 5 way selector switch for the PAS level ?

Sure you can press the up and down buttons on a standard setup, but something like a 5 way slide switch on the controller or next to the gear switch would be more natural to use.

Its for a KT controller on a Bafange rear hub motor 250W.

Shouldn't be too hard to rig one up yourself. I would imagine all the up/down switch does is change the logic levels using different voltages for the input (at least that's how I would do it).

Not easy. You can't just splice the cable because the signalling is digital.
There are two solutions: bluetooth adapter or another LCD with remote buttons like the KT LCD8S.
For Lishui controllers, the old KM J-LCD has remote buttons.

It's digital, not analogue. The switches are connected to a cpu in the LCD and give a yes or no signal to tell the cpu what you want to do. The cpu in the LCD processes that info, then communicates with the cpu in the controller to tell it to change the power.

Some of the LED type control panels use analogue to communicate with the controller. They can be replaced by a simple voltage divider from a 5 way switch, but I can't see why anybody would want to do that when the control panel does it so efficiently. You'd need a controller with an analogue input to do that, and those controllers are crappy.

I suspect the display keeps a record of the current PAS level and sends a command to the controller to change the PAS level when there is a switch press.

An 'external device' would might also need to keep track of the PAS level and emulate the appropriate number of switch presses when a slide switch is used.

Or you could arrange to send 5 down switches to ensure your at level 0, then go back up to the required level. This would prevent the 'external device' having to be error free with reguard to the current set level.

However that asside, a sigificant issue would be finding a suitable slide switch thats desgned for outdoor use.

An easier option would be a bank of 5 push buttons attached to the side of the controller, with a wiring hack to read the buttons.

However, that is DIY, it would be a heap more convienient if something was already available.

Exactly, logic levels, which is what I said. @StuartsProjects hit the nail on the head, the main issue would be to source a moisture-proof slide switch.

Or as I realised maybe 5 push buttons.

Your ambling along at PAS 1 and come to a steep hill. So for level 5 you need to press the up button (whilst watching it) 4 times to go to level 5. So much easier to press a single button for level 5 or move a slide switch.

There's a thing called a throttle that deals with that!

Contrary to popular belief, they are perfectly legal as long as you have it set to non-zero start, which KT controllers have in the setting P4=1.
