Hi forum Gurus

I took delivery of a E-Plus Commute 700c 36v 250W folding e-bike from Argos. Very pleased with it so far and have already done a 24 mile round trip on it last Sunday. I had only intended to do 5 miles or so but it was going so well I kept going.

This obviously meant the 9.6Ah battery it is supplied with was almost exhausted (as was I, first time on a pedal cycle in 20 years). I would like to obtain a second battery to increase range and or use of assist on hilly terrain (Wales).

The battery case is like that below. Will any 36V batteries in the same case work? Do you know of a reputable UK supplier or these or is it an e-bay job (I can see some of this type listed). Anything else I should look out for?

Many thanks in advance

At that price, the bike almost certainly uses standard basic Chinese components, so it's pretty certain that you can use any 36v battery you want, the only important thing to look out for is that the + and - terminals are the same way round. Always check with a meter. Don't go by any markings or anything else.

If you can get one at 14.5ah it will see you a good mileage maybe 55 or more in low power.

Just ordered a 10Ah one from Yosepower on E-bay for £160. Combination of it and the original should be sufficient for my needs.

Many thanks for your comments.

Well hopefully the one from e-bay shows up if not paypal will be getting an e-mail.

Edit: The sellers business address is the office next door to that on the Yosepower website so I think it is legit.
