Hello iam from holland so i hope my englisch is ok. We have 2 samebike’s the problem is when we start paddeling the bike goes to the max speed. So i did order on amazone a new controller with the S866 display. I did install one but now the pas function is not working. The engine works i did automatic indentification. The PAS sensor is ok i have 5V between the black and red wire and 5V on the blue wire when there is a magnet in front of the sensor. Also if i press - for a few seconds for walk assist the engine make noice but the wheel isn’t running? I hope someone canbhelp me?

First, talking about the original controller. How many PAS levels does it have? What speed does it go in each level?

It is normal in cheap controllers that the highest PAS level is full speed, and the lower PAS levels are full power but to a lower speed. This is called 'speed control'.

If that is how the original controller works, then it is doing what the designer intended and is not faulty, just not very good!

The original had 5 pas settings. But i read with this controller it is normal whennyou start paddeling the bike goes to max speed thats the readon i changed the controller. I have now the walk function working. But the pas isn’t doing much. I hear the engine running and if i stop paddeling the engine runs for a few seconds and then stops. But what is strange when i set pas to 1 the speed in the display gets lower then when i set it to 5 biking on the same speed?

IF you want smooth pedal assist, the S866 and the Brainpower controllers, in my opinion, are the wrong approach. I had a small 15A model, and didn't like it. Replaced with a KT controller and display.

The maximum power all the time happens when you have a controller that has speed control for the pedal assistance, which is all cheap controllers, including any controller with S866 display. So your replacement will be the same.

If your motor makes sound but the wheel doesn't turn, the motor is running backwards. You can fix that by doing the self-learning (intelligent identification) procedure. You switch off everything, join the self-learning wires, lift the wheel off the ground, then switch on. After a few seconds, the motor will start to turn slowly either in the right or wrong direction. If right, you switch off, disconnect the self-learning wires and leave them disconnected. If wrong, repeat the procedure. Each time you do the procedure, the direction changes.

Sometimes, when you fit a new controller, the PAS works in reverse so that the motor turns when you pedal backwards. You can fix that by flipping the magnet disc as long as it's a cheap magnet disc type PAS.

Yes, I haven't seen any others that you can buy on Amazon, Aliexpress, etc, that let you adjust the power independent of speed.

Did you buy Square wave or Sine wave KT controller ?
A Sine wave model is quieter.

LCD4 has no throttle indicator nor do the other LCD's.
If throttle is enabled then it will either work with or without pedlling dependant on how it is configured.
PAS may only show up as a numeral because the the display screen is small, so 0 -5 will be displayed to show PAS level.
