Safety wear

Featured Replies

Which would type of helmet would you wear... full face, open face, flip up or just a normal safety head wear for a EMTB road/offroad use?.
I wear a MTB cycling helmet that had MIPS, it's meant to protect your head better.

Would feel comfortable wearing a full/open face helmet or do you think its abit OTT safety?

i have a race class bike so it can go over 28 mph max 39.6 that helmet is a carbon rampage pro and that is heavy enough let alone a full race helmet and visor id boil in one of those things.

Them hand guards (retard rammers)look the biz. Do you catch the eye of plod at all in your gear. I ride an eBobcat 1500, i dont race but do enjoy off road(moors and dales). I wear a ski helmet from Blacks, but considering full face or chin guard type. Trying to get peoples opinion on different headwear protection

nope they dont give a crap i ride past them all the time going 30 mph and wave at them on the pavement and not interested even if i look like a halo robot.

just hit the mute as it is the vibrations from my handle bars.

Like your style SW. Plod abit keen around our area so got to keep within the limits. Thanks for your input though SW. Good chatting with you.

Standard open faced lid. You wear a full face anywhere other than the Alps or some bike trail park you look a complete dimwit.

i use sun glasses because they have polarized or prizm lenses for on and off road you wont get that with a visor helmet.

AndyBike, i didnt mean to sound contrisending, just wanting different opinions

Helmets with jawguards protect teeth - I'm pretty sure I would have lost yet another one at least by now, if I hadn't used a (cheapo) jawguarded helmet - cheers soundwave for the tip! I've landed on my head three times so far, it may happen again. A top hat lid type doesn't protect the lower side of the face, or jaw and/or teeth. For eyewear, I just wear cool shades.

As I see it, ride sensibly and safely then there is no need for specialist or ott thrill sports protection, It is speed that does the damage.

For off road or thrill seeking riding then yes some protection is needed but for most riders it simply imv isn't needed.

Yes Neal, but is not true to say you still could do the 15.5mph limit and still hit the head as hard as if travelling at say 25mph, but prob not as much forward momentum as 25mph?
