Hi Guys!
I am newbie in e-bike topics. I bought a Muddyfox Electric Avenue to see how it works and I'm blown away!

I have on board such a simple LED driver:
24/36/48V LED KT 880 Display Control Panel Electric Bike Bicycle Accessories New | eBay

Of course, I started messing around with modifications to have more goodies :D
And mainly I wanted to add thumb throttle.
I was suggested by the fact that the yellow plug is available and I bought the appropriate thumb throttle module. After connecting, however, an error pops up (all LEDs responsible for showing power are blinking)
PAS is not active in this state.

I thought maybe this LED driver doesn't accept this form, so I wanted to try with S866.
I bought it and after connecting it I had a problem with communication. After reading the forum, I solved all problems with Errors.
For me, the parameter P20 0000 did not give a reaction.
Only after changing to P20 0001 anything happened, namely:
The PAS on the first, third and fifth stages started the motor, but from the sound I believe it was 6km/h mode on each stage of the PAS.
After connecting the thumb throttle, there was no error, but nothing happened either. Motor didn't even start.
In addition, the speedometer does not show any reading :)

Can anything be done about it? Or driver in frame musst be replaced? I don't want to disassemble all the electronics so as not to break anything :)
Thumb throttle would be handy, my area is quite steep and I only have one gear. Sometimes starting is very tedious.
Possibly, an additional derailleur (even one) to start would help. But the hub has a narrow mount (looks like a cassette spline)

If nothing can be done - this information will also be helpful!
Thanks and good weather everyone :)

You should have asked first. Assuming that you have a KT controller to go with your 880 panel, there are settings in a KT controller that you can only access with a KT control panel. S866 is not compatible. You should have bought a KT LCD3.

Yes it's true. Everything looked simple and I thought that I would succeed the first time without the help of the forum :)
Thanks for the answer. Following this lead, can I also use KT LCD4 or KT LCD5? A slightly smaller form would be better for me :)
Thanks!

Yes. Bear in mind that the buttons on the LCD4 are not so easy to press, especially with gloved hands. LCD1 doesn't give access to all settings.

Thanks for info. I will choose between KT-LCD3 and KT-LCD5. Cheers!

One can ditch the LCD3 stand up bracket for a simple aluminium one , then one can have it sit tight to the handlebar stem so it lays quite flat.
I use a bit of 1mm ali as a bracket and drilled a suitable hole in it so that the stem screw/cap clamps the bracket then align the screw holes in the rear of the LCD3 to affix to the bracket.

1mm aluminium will break eventually due to metal fatigue. Mild steel or stainless steel is better, otherwise thicker aluminium.

I will let you know in two or three years if fatique /vibration brakes it but doubt it as there is no moement to allow it to stress the metal.
I have the same set up on my Boardman which does my off road stuff , 6 years and no metal fatique.

Did you successfully change the controller and display? If so, which one did you go for?

Unfortunately the LED display stopped working and I haven't been able to source a replacement. Any advice gratefully received!

which led display stopped working? if a kt brand led any of the KT LCD displays should work and some can reprogram a new compatible KT led display if that aesthetic is more your style.

Post pics and detail any numbers/ID markings, including the controller (silver box) label if accessible, to help ID your parts.

E-bike controller/displays work in tandem with the settings or parameters getting set and held in the handlebar display unit and getting transferred to the controller unit 'silver box' when the bike powers up each time.

So matching controllers and displays is crucial as not all 'speak the same language' and frequently EU/UK regulation compliance is achieved with custom firmware variants that 'complicate' communication further meaning 'generic' standard firmware display versions may not work as expected..

Thanks for the response! See pictures attached. Can't find a replacement for the display or any info on what display might work with the controller. Happy to replace both if anyone's a suggestion.

It's a Santroll controller, which is OEM only. All controllers will work with your motor. The LED control panels are extremely reliable and robust, and yours is in good condition, so I doubt that there's anything wrong with it. The same goes for the controller unless you abused it in some way, like shorting wires, not riding fast.

Why do you think its a faulty controller/display? what battery voltage do you have when fully charged? use a multimeter the bars/leds, on batteries/displays are rough indicators at best..

If @saneagle thinks your controller/display combo is probably ok? He is worth listening to,

Thanks. Unfortunately somebody had tampered with the display while the bike was locked up and damaged the cable in the process. It’s definitely no longer working. The light doesn’t even come on an anymore. Will purchase a KT display and controller and take it from there. Will they work with most motors?
