I saw this & thought it might interest others.

If anyone can translate from Dutch that might help!

The graphic above is by SWOV, the Dutch institute for road safety research and details the relative risk posed by a variety of modes of travel; from walking up to HGVs.

In order: pedestrian, cycle, moped, motorbike, car, van, lorry.
The right axis is the aggressor (cars figure highly), the left side the injured party.

Not clear if it is absolute numbers, or in some way weighted by distance, number of vehicles, etc.
I don't think we would get that significant number of cycle/cycle incidents here; not enough cycling.

Going by the above graphic cars should be banned, too dangerous for others. Over to you flecc: "No, cars should not be banned because reason a).... reason b)...

Seriously the law is being changed in Spain for hit and run accidents (mostly bicycles and pedestrians are victims) which will be punished with 6 months to 4 (four) years in jail and loss of license from one to four years. You can still be judged for homicide on top of this. A step in the right direction!
