Tewkesbury High St this morning. Road closed for occasional market. Traffic diverted adding maybe 1 minute to average car journey. Up come Larry and Linda Lycra. Do they follow diversion? No. Do they get off and push? No.Do they slip down a side alley and use the backroad? No. Ride straight through. When they were unable to proceed on road due to crowds, rode on pavement instead. Brilliant. But not alone. No sooner had they gone through than another half dozen of their uniformed cousins followed.
Maybe we should build them another Velodrome (Glasgow's cost £110 million) and keep them off the roads.

YES billadie , and pulled down realy good homes to build it
who gets to use it when its all done those that can pay , as for the village they built, most of it will be sold to banks+ companys , the people that lived there wont be given a home there.

Agree totally, john h. It was the same with the Olympics. Beware anyone promising a Legacy. It is a cheque in the post.

Also agreed, major sport of all kinds is just a form of politics. FIFA, the IOC, the FIA, the UCI and other major sporting bodies are run on political lines in close association with national governments and run by the wealthy, the great and the good for their own benefit.

Any gain for the masses is the minimum they think they can get away with.
