Wouldn't a torque washer be more appropriate than those washers in the link, providing the dropouts were the right size.

Nice looking old style bike. I've a Swytch Mk 1 on an even older 'conventional' road/touring bike with a variety of different sized batteries fitted to the rear rack. I also had to file out the front dropouts to fit the front motor wheel. True the front forks are steel so I didn't need the torque thingy which I had, but otherwise it fitted ok. Although I've more recently bought a new electric pedelec (Decathlon 500E), I wouldn't get rid of the relatively lightweight converted tourer which is easy to manhandle into the back of the car . So don't dismiss a simple conversion, it may depend on what type of use the bike will be getting.

The washers mentioned in the link are handy if your front fork has lips, they allow bolts, other washers and torque arms to be fitted against a fully flat surface.
