I like the look of the Riese and Müller Delite hybrid - Delite hybrid rohloff/HS | riese und müller
But I can't make out what the yellow disc is on the front fork. Anyone have an idea?

The web site is not much use to non German speakers, but I don't suppose we are the intended market. Not seen this model offered anywhere.

Their bikes are built to order normal take three weeks. Have not seen this bike in the flesh but RRP is £4699 for hs version (speed pedelec) or £4539 for non speed pedelec. There is also a version with Bosch performance drive for £4789. Not sure what the yellow disc is.

We have sold several of their bikes including having two 2014 models on order which should be with us shortly. If you switch the language to German you can see Blue Label 2014 models and other new models, they are in the process of updating the website so hopefully it will be possible to see all the information in English. Most UK dealers would be selling/stocking these due to their lower price point.

On the right hand side the yellow disc is probably the licence holder, as this is a high speed model that has to be registered. It would have to be on the left here in Britain of course.

The price doesn't make any sense at all when you can get a brand new Honda PCX125 that does 130 mpg and 70 mph for half the price The price difference will pay for tax and insurance for 10 years and probably all the petrol too., and I'll bet that the Honda will have a higher residual value. How can they justify it?

That model has the Rohloff gears, they are a grand or so. After my recent unhappy event I am looking for something different. But thinking of d8veh's footnote.

That makes it OK then - I guess.

Do they make you go faster? Are they lighter than other options? Can you go further with them? Do they make it easier to pedal?

An Alfine-11 is about £350 now and Rohloffs can be had for £750 retail from Bike-Discount.de .. Component cost to a manufacturer is a fraction of those figures.

The ultra-bright LED lighting probably realistically costs the manufacturer no more than about £60 and won't be as powerful as a £30 CREE T6 setup. So you basically have some nice forks and a unique frame design.

Looks to me like you're basically paying out about £1.6k over a comparable bike for a "single pivot swingarm". For whatever that realistically gives you.

That's another reason why the bike is so expensive - few people have Dave's knowledge of conversion possibilities and the value to be had there.
