I now suspect there is a fault in the Controller. The motor is 24v , battery 200WH, controller14amps programmed to deliver 250 w. Simple system--motor fires when you start peddling & stops when you stop peddlng. Can anyone recommend a controller i could use?

12 magnet sensors can have compatibility issues, though would certainly work with some. The only question I have is on the commutation speed. Some controllers won't do it fast enough. I know when Xiongda made their hub-motors with a very high reduction ratio, they needed special controllers or software.

Your motor doesn't have the normal 9-pin connector. How many pins are in it?

What is the actual issue with the Revos ?
Controller pcb is a bespoke one ( I beleive) with Revos 's own firmware so not generic, however the bottle/controller base is a generic type and sold as a HT1 by TopBikeKit.
Being a friction drive the Revos is display less and is a speed controller type , I believe it regulates power based on speed as the only speed setting is the 15.5mph cut off.

HT1 controller for KT.

The only way to know if a Revos will work well with a generic controller is for someone to try it and add a display for funtionality.
One would need to carry out some wiring alterations dependent on whether one has the Sq wave or sinwave drive and likely will need to try all wiring combo's.

I don`t understand all the technicalities of ebike controllers. 2 contacts from the batteries disappear into the controller. Cable from controller to the motor contains 3 wires. 3wires from the PAS sensor also disappear into the controller. Inside the controller all components appear embeded in sealing wax. I repeat it is a simple system that suited my requirements.

Thank you for responding. Motor just stopped. Immediate response , battery exhausted ,charged both batteries ,but still no response, checked alignment of PAS sensor ,neon light remained dead, replaced sensor. As you surmised, there isn`t a display & power is regulated by speed & cuts out at c. 15.5mph. It is a simple system but suited me.

it might be simple, but that doesn't mean simple to replace. With only three wires, it's running without sensors. Only ebike controllers have connectors for pedal sensors, but I'm not sure that your average sensorless controller would be able to commutate fast enough for that motor. You could try any of the cheap ones from Ebay or Aliexpress, otherwise an RC motor controller (ESC) might work better.

Before anything, you need to figure out how many cells are in the battery. Look at the charger voltage written on it, then divide by 4.2v. It'll probably be 6S (25.2v) or 7S (29.4v). 24v ebike controllers are normally 7S, while as RC ESC are typically for 6S, but some can be programmed for 7S or anything else.

As ESCs are pretty cheap, I think I might try one of those first. This one seems to be programmable:

Revos are 7s , the original batteries use Panny PF cells afaik.

Do the batteries give a voltage output reading ?

Can we see some clear pics of the potted controller and the wiring .
